    Abstract: RANDOMLY ARRANGED SHALLOW CLOSURES ARE GUIDED BETWEEN OPPOSED ROTARY BRUSHES. CLOSURES ENTER BETWEEN THE BRUSHES WITH THE OPEN END OF A CLOSURE FACING EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER OF THE OPPOSED BRUSHES. AS A CLOSURE PASSES BETWEEN THE BRUSHES, THE BRISTLES OF ONE BRUSH ENTER THE OPEN END OF THE CLOSURE, THE OPPOSING BRUSH BEARING AGAINST THE CLOSED END. THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE BRISTLES WITH THE OPEN END OF A CLOSURE CAUSES THE CLOSURE TO MOVE TO A POSITION WITH ITS OPEN END FACING UPWARDLY WHEN RELEASED BY THE BRUSHES.

    Abstract: Closure-handling apparatus designed to effect orientation of relatively narrow elongated and slightly tapered cylindrical closures which are substantially greater in length than in diameter and in which the distribution of weight is substantially equal throughout its length. Randomly arranged closures are deposited on a rotary inclined carrier having a plurality of radially arranged pockets into which the closures are received, those assuming a desired position of orientation being transferred to the mouth of a supply chute.

    Abstract: The closure-handling apparatus is arranged to effect orientation of relatively large tapered closures heavier at the smaller closed end by providing moving pockets shaped to conform to the shape of the closures and into which a majority of the closures fall by gravity to assume an oriented position, provision being made for manipulating incorrectly positioned closures carried by the moving pockets into an oriented position in the pockets.
