    Abstract: Apparatus comprising a hopper containing a sorting table supported in an inclined position so that a mixed mass of caps deposited in the hopper at the lower edge of the table are carried upwardly by rotation of the table to the level of the upper edge where there is a discharge passageway to which the caps are adapted to be led in single file for transportation to a capping machine and peripherally distributed pockets, guide rails and jets arranged to capture certain of the caps and orient them for entrance into the discharge passage while discarding others.

    Abstract: Apparatus for applying closures to containers, wherein containers standing upright are moved by a rotor about a vertical axis in a circular path relative to an inclined chute which supplies closures one at a time to a position close to the rotor characterized in that there are pivotally supported transfer arms moving in consonance with the rotor and angularly relative thereto as they pass the chute to take closures from the chute and move them back to the rotor and a rotatable picker at the distal end of each transfer arm which is rotated about a vertical axis as it travels angularly from the chute back to the rotor in a reverse direction by an amount corresponding to the angle the closure becomes displaced by the swinging movement of the transfer arm.
