Abstract: A phosphor wheel according to the present disclosure includes: a first substrate having a first main surface and a second main surface opposite to the first main surface, the first substrate including a metal material; a phosphor ring provided on the first main surface of the first substrate; a second substrate having a third main surface and a fourth main surface being opposite to the third main surface, the second substrate including a metal material; a plurality of heat dissipation fins disposed on the fourth main surface of the second substrate; and a motor mounted on the first substrate. The second main surface of the first substrate and the third main surface of the second substrate are joined by brazing. The motor is mounted on the first substrate with a gap interposed between the motor and the second substrate.

Abstract: A phosphor wheel device includes a phosphor wheel, a housing that accommodates the phosphor wheel, and a heat exchanger. A circulating gas flows between the housing and the heat exchanger. The housing includes a circulation fan, a first space in which the circulation fan is disposed, a second space in which gas is sent from the first space by the circulation fan, a third space in which the phosphor wheel is disposed, a first opening giving communication between the heat exchanger and the first space, a second opening giving communication between the first space and the second space, a third opening giving communication between the second space and the third space, and a fourth opening giving communication between the third space and the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a circulation flow path through which circulating gas flows and an outside gas flow path through which outside gas flows.

Abstract: A projection-type image display apparatus of the present disclosure includes a fluorescent substance, a blue-color laser diode excitation optical system, a DMD, a projection optical system, a polarizing plate, and a depolarizing plate. The fluorescent substance has characteristics of emitting predetermined fluorescence in response to excitation light. The blue-color laser diode has a semiconductor laser that emits laser light of a wavelength with which the fluorescent substance is excited. The excitation optical system condenses light from the blue-color laser diode. The DMD is controllable by a signal from an external source. The projection optical system is an optical system that can enlarge and project an image displayed by the DMD. The polarizing plate is disposed on the output side of the projection optical system.

Abstract: A lighting device of the present disclosure includes an excitation light source, a phosphor, a spreader, a reflective layer, and a reflective region. The excitation light source emits a polarized light. The phosphor receives the light as an excitation light from the excitation light source, and emits a fluorescent light, the phosphor including a plurality of phosphor pieces adjacently disposed on the reflective layer, the plurality of phosphor pieces having a same characteristic. The spreader supports the phosphor. The reflective layer is disposed between the phosphor and the spreader, and reflects the fluorescent light. The reflective region is disposed between the plurality of phosphor pieces, the reflective region reflecting the received excitation light while keeping a polarization characteristic of the received excitation light.

Abstract: An illumination apparatus includes first and second laser light source units, each of which is configured by juxtaposing a plurality of laser light sources in an array, and which are provided to oppose each other. The illumination apparatus further include first and second reflecting members.
