摘要: Systems and methods for digitally drawing on virtual 3D object surfaces using a 3D display system. A 3D drawing mode may be enabled and a display screen of the system may correspond to a zero parallax plane of a 3D scene that may present a plurality of surfaces at non-zero parallax planes. User input may be received at a location on the display screen, and in response, a surface may be specified, rendered, and displayed at the zero parallax plane. Further, additional user input on the display screen may be received specifying drawing motion across the rendered and displayed surface. The drawing motion may start at the location and continue across a boundary between the surface and another contiguous surface. Accordingly, in response to the drawing motion crossing the boundary, the contiguous surface may be rendered and displayed at the zero parallax plane along with results of the drawing motion.

摘要: The field of the invention is that of viewing systems comprising means for generating stereoscopic images, a viewing device comprising a projector and a semitransparent screen and a pair of stereoscopic glasses. The projector according to the invention comprises means arranged so as to project alternatively a first image emitted at a first wavelength and a second image emitted at a second wavelength different from the first wavelength. The pair of glasses comprises a first filter and a second filter, the first filter transmitting the entirety of the spectrum except a first narrow spectral band centered on the first wavelength and the second filter transmitting the entirety of the spectrum except a second narrow spectral band centered on the second wavelength.

摘要: Embodiments present different images to multiple viewers of a shared display using glasses with lenses that transmit only selected images from the display. The images viewed by each of the glasses may be based on the tracked position and orientation of the glasses, so that the images correspond to the user's viewpoint. Different images may also be presented to left and right eyes for 3D stereoscopic viewing. The position and orientation of the lenses of the glasses may be tracked by analyzing images from one or more cameras observing the glasses. Glasses may have distinctive geometric shapes or features, such as circular lenses or rims, or recognizable blobs or patterns, to facilitate tracking. The lenses of the glasses may combine multiple barriers such as anaglyph filters, polarizing filters, and shutters, to select images from the display. Glasses may also be used as pointing devices to select and manipulate 3D objects.

摘要: A 3D projector system includes a locally modulated polarizer mounted in front of a projector. The polarizer is controllable to produce different polarization states for local regions of the projector images. Combinations of polarizer states and projector images can be used to produce left and right images which have reduced intensity differences between subsequent frames. This may reduce flickering and viewer eye fatigue. This may also reduce unwanted crosstalk between left and right eye viewpoints and increase image contrast and dynamic range.

The system includes a second WMV light source outputting a second light stream onto the display surface concurrently with the second light stream, with the second light stream having a wavelength in the second wavelength range. The WMV light sources are scanning lasers that each may be a scanning laser providing red, green, or blue coherent light or a full red, green, and blue (RGB) scanning laser.

摘要: A stereoscopic display method or system includes an image display panel, object tracking sensors, and a means to create first or left, and second or right stereoscopic images based upon viewpoint location. This allows the user to perceive the viewed 3D stereoscopic image as approximately fixed in space.A first embodiment employs differently filtered colored, stereoscopic images. The first and second differently filtered colored images may be perceived as a 3D stereoscopic image by applying anaglyph glasses.In a second embodiment the method of passively polarized glasses may be applied with the result being a stereoscopic image whose location is approximately fixed in space.A third embodiment employs passively polarized anaglyph glasses. This provides the advantage of allowing two different viewers to see different virtual 3D stereoscopic images whose location remains approximately fixed in space.By employing tracking sensors, user gesturing or pointing may now allow interaction with the virtual 3D stereoscopic images in much the same way 2D objects are manipulated by employing a touch screen. This may be combined with voice commands. This allows for input systems such as virtual 3D touch panels, keyboards and remote controllers. In addition virtual 3D objects may be pushed, pulled rotated or manipulated in almost any way a real 3D object would be.The methods described may be applied in other ways, including, but not limited to gaming systems, 3D virtual caves, and simulators. It may also be used wired or wirelessly to remotely control or interact with other devices.

摘要: A system captures a first hemispherical image and a second hemispherical image, each hemispherical image including an overlap portion, the overlap potions capturing a same field of view, the two hemispherical images collectively comprising a spherical FOV and separated along a longitudinal plane. The system maps a modified first hemispherical image to a first portion of the 2D projection of a cubic image, the modified first hemispherical image including a non-overlap portion of the first hemispherical image, and maps a modified second hemispherical image to a second portion of the 2D projection of the cubic image, the modified second hemispherical image also including a non-overlap portion. The system maps the overlap portions of the first hemispherical image and the second hemispherical image to the 2D projection of the cubic image, and encodes the 2D projection of the cubic image to generate an encoded image representative of the spherical FOV.
