Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques provide for reliable signal processing and amplification of downlink signals. A network entity may apply a digital pre-distortion (DPD) process to a signal for transmission to a user equipment (UE) and may apply a crest factor reduction (CFR) process to the output of the DPD process. The output of the CFR process may be amplified by a power amplifier and transmitted via a downlink transmission to the UE. The CFR process limits the peak power of the signal provided to the power amplifier (e.g., to a configured level), thereby reducing the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the signal provided to the power amplifier. The DPD process may compensate for non-linearities of the power amplifier. A training procedure for the DPD process may account for the CFR process applied after the DPD process.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may identify a set of data resource elements for transmitting data in one or more symbols periods. The first wireless device may generate, for the one or more symbol periods based on the set of data resource elements, a sequence of a set of pilot resource elements associated with the set of data resource elements, the sequence of the set of pilot resource elements including a phase tracking reference signal. The first wireless device may transmit, to a second wireless device in the one or more symbol periods, the set of data resource elements and the set of pilot resource elements. The second wireless device may decode a first subset of the set of pilot resource elements based on a second subset of the set of pilot resource elements to determine the phase tracking reference signal.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for downlink control information (DCI) format for power efficiency. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a base station (BS), a first DCI message in a first symbol of a downlink control channel, the first DCI message comprising a portion of an identifier that consists of less than all parts of the identifier, the first symbol being one of a plurality of symbols in a time period. The method may also include, when the portion of the identifier corresponds to the UE, receiving downlink data via resources indicated by a second DCI message, the second DCI message received in a second symbol of the downlink control channel, the second DCI message indicating the resources for receiving downlink data, the second symbol being another one of the plurality of symbols in the time period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a first message indicating a capability of the UE to jointly modulate data with tone reservation signals on an individual subcarrier basis. Accordingly, the UE may receive a second message activating joint modulation of data with tone reservation signals for the UE. In some examples, the UE may also receive control signaling indicating various parameters to use for joint modulation of data with tone reservation signals. The UE may communicate with a base station over multiple subcarriers in accordance with the second message and the control signaling, where one or more of the multiple subcarriers carry data jointly modulated with tone reservation signals on an individual subcarrier basis. The described techniques may enable the UE to perform wireless communications with higher throughput, reduced power consumption, and improved spectral efficiency, among other benefits.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a retransmission protocol that utilizes compressed feedback. Various implementations relate generally to a compressed feedback technique for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ). Upon receiving a compressed feedback value, a sending device may generate a retransmission codeblock. The retransmission codeblock may be derived from multiple codeblocks in a set of codeblocks. A receiving device can use the retransmission codeblock to obtain any failed codeblock in the set of codeblocks based on all other previously decoded codeblocks in the set of codeblocks. Thus, the receiving device does not need to indicate which codeblock in the set failed, but only needs to send a compressed feedback value that indicates which sets of codeblocks have had a single codeblock failure.

The wireless device may receive a configuration for a resource pool for sidelink communication, the resource pool having a plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) including a first set of PRBs that are grouped in one or more sub-channels, each sub-channel having an equal number of PRBs, and a second set of PRBs that are not in the one or more sub-channels having the equal number of PRBs. The apparatus may transmit in the second set of PRBs. The second set of PRBs may not be monitored by a receiving device.
