Abstract:
A process for the preparation of Poly DL-lactide-co-glycolide nanoparticles having antitubercular drugs encapsulated therein comprising: (i) preparation of an aqueous solution of stable water soluble drugs in DW/NS/PBS (ii) preparation of unstable drugs in DW/NS/PBS (iii) preparation of a polymer and hydrophobic drug solution in an organic solvent, (iv) mixing separately the solutions of steps (i) and (ii) with that of step (iii) and sonicating under cold conditions, (v) adding the above emulsion to aqueous PVA and resonicating under cold conditions, (vi) stirring the emulsion 0nd centrifuging the same (vii) washing the said particles, reconstituting the same and lyophilizing.
Abstract:
A tunneling device for creating a pathway in subcutaneous tissue of a person's body. The tunneling device includes a member having two ends, where each of the ends defines an insertion surface that facilitates the insertion of the ends into the subcutaneous tissue of the person's body. The tunneling device includes an interchangeable handle connectable to each of the ends. The handle defines a grasping surface and an opening. The opening is configured to receive either of the ends. The grasping surface enables a user to securely hold the handle with one hand to forcibly move the member through the subcutaneous tissue of the person's body to create the pathway in the subcutaneous tissue, and pull a cable of an implant device through the created pathway.

Abstract:
A tool for coring a hole in a patient's body. A housing includes a first opening and a second opening and has an axis extending therebetween. A shaft is movably positioned along the axis. A blade assembly is attached to one end of the shaft. The blade assembly comprises a cup having an open end and a closed end and a cutting edge formed around the open end. An interface is attached to the housing, which is shaped and dimensioned to communicate with a connector used to connect a medical device to a the patient's body.

A tool for coring a hole in a portion of a patient's body. A cylindrical sheath includes a hollow bore open at both ends. A shaft is axially movable back and forth within the bore. A blade assembly is attached to one end of the shaft. The blade assembly comprises a hollow open cup portion having a closed end and a cutting edge formed around the margin of the open end. An interface is attached to the sheath which is shaped and dimensioned to communicate with a connector used to connect a medical device to a patient's body.
Abstract:
An MRI-compatible catheter reduces localized heating due to MR scanner-induced currents and includes a shaft having opposite distal and proximal end portions. One or more RF tracking coils are positioned adjacent the distal end portion and each includes a conductive lead that electrically connects the RF tracking coil to an MRI scanner. Each lead includes a series of back and forth segments along its length. The catheter includes one or more sensing electrodes at the shaft distal end portion, each electrically connected to a resistor having high impedance. A sheath surrounds a portion of the elongated shaft and includes at least one RF shield coaxially disposed therewithin. Each RF shield includes elongated inner and outer conductors and an elongated dielectric layer of MRI compatible material sandwiched between the inner and outer conductors. The inner and outer conductors are electrically connected at one end and electrically isolated at an opposite end.
