Abstract: A computing system includes a first hardware element having a first accelerometer and a first gyroscope, and a second hardware element having a second accelerometer and a second gyroscope. The first and second hardware elements are moveable with respect to each other. The computing system recursively generates a result signal indicative of a relative orientation of the first and second hardware elements with respect to each other. The result signal may be generated by generating a first intermediate signal indicative of a angle between the first and second hardware elements based on signals generated by the first and second accelerometers and generating a second intermediate signal indicative of the angle based on signals generated by the first and second gyroscopes. The result signal indicative of the angle may be generated as a weighted sum of the first intermediate signal and the second intermediate signal. At least one of the first and second hardware elements is controlled by on the result signal.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a wearable electronic device, such as a watch, that includes one or more optical sensors. In order to determine accuracy of measurements by the optical sensors, the device detects whether or not the optical sensors are in physical contact with the user's skin. The device detects a level of contact between the user's skin and the optical sensors based on electrostatic charge variation measurements, and generates a contact reliability index (CRI) based on the level of contact. Operation of the optical sensors are adjusted based on the CRI.

Abstract: A device includes a charge variation sensor having at one or more electrodes. The charge variation sensor, in operation, generates a charge variation signal indicative of changes in an electric or electrostatic charge induced on the one or more electrodes by an alternating current power source. Processing circuitry, coupled to the charge variation sensor, generates a frequency spectrum signal based on the charge variation signal and identifies a frequency of operation associated with the alternating current power source based on the generated frequency spectrum signal. A control signal is generated based on the identified frequency of operation. An image acquisition device sets an image acquisition frequency based on the control signal.
