Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate on which a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area are defined; a plurality of gate lines disposed in the display area and extending in a first direction; a plurality of data lines disposed in the display area and extending in a second direction, the data lines intersecting the gate lines; and a black matrix extending in the first line to cover the gate lines or in the second direction to cover the data lines, where a width of the black matrix at a location adjacent to a boundary line between the display area and the non-display area is larger than a width of the black matrix at a location adjacent to a center of the display area.
