    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method for a base station of a wireless communication system is provided. The method comprises the steps of receiving, from a user equipment in an inactive mode (INACTIVE) to a distributed unit (DU) of the base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including uplink data, transmitting from, the DU to a centralized unit-control plane (CU-CP) of the base station, a first message including at least one of indicator information related to transmission of the uplink data and identifier information of a data radio bearer (DRB) corresponding to the uplink data, and transmitting the uplink data to a user plane function (UPF), on the basis of the first message.

    Abstract: A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system is provided. The disclosure also provides simple multiple path transmission and multiple path transmission using an intermedia user plane function (I-UPF) according to the deployment environment of a network router.
