Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Embodiments herein disclose methods for handling a slice based cell reselection in a wireless network (1000) by a UE (100). The method includes evaluating a cell reselection criteria based on a relative reselection priority between frequencies derived using a slice priority of at least one slice group supported on a frequency. The at least one slice group comprises a highest priority slice group supported by the frequency as an input. Further, the method includes determining a change in the relative reselection priority upon detecting that a best cell or a highest ranked cell in the frequency does not support the at least one slice group associated with a highest priority. Further, the method includes re-evaluating the cell reselection criteria based on the determined changed in the relative reselection priority.

The method includes determining whether to configure lower layer triggered mobility (LTM) for a master cell group (MCG); determining whether to configure the LTM for a secondary cell group (SCG); transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), a configuration message including at least one of first LTM configuration information for the MCG and second LTM configuration information for the SCG, wherein the configuration message includes information about at least one channel state information (CSI) resource for configuring at least one candidate cell for the LTM.

Abstract: A method for handling a Discontinuous reception (DRX) operation by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network is provided. The method includes detecting an event. The event includes at least one of a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback being disabled, a HARQ feedback not being configured, or an unsuccessful multicast transport block (TB) decoding. Further, the method includes performing an action based on the detected event. In an example, the action includes adding an additional timing duration to at least one preconfigured DRX timer value and staying awake by the UE while the preconfigured timer is running. The action includes staying awake by the UE in spite of a multicast DRX active time being over and continuing to monitor for potential HARQ retransmission.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) or 6th generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method for supporting multiple measurement gaps in a wireless network by a radio access network node (RAN node) is provided. The method includes creating a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising one of a RRC Reconfiguration or a RRC Resume with additional Information Elements (IEs) for configuration of the multiple measurement gaps, transmitting the RRC message with the additional IEs in the gap configuration of each of the measurement gap to a user equipment (UE) in the wireless network for configuration of the multiple measurement gaps. Further, the method includes receiving an RRC message comprising of one of an RRC Reconfiguration Complete or an RRC Resume Complete indicating successful application of the received measurement gap configuration from the UE.
