The seed data would preferably be geographic coordinates of a femtocell with which the mobile station is registered. The positioning server may then use that seed data to facilitate obtaining satellite assistance data from a base station almanac, and the positioning serve may provide the satellite assistance data to the mobile station to facilitate location determination.

The composition includes a first solution and a second solution. The first solution includes at least one chemical capable of being effectively bound to soil to form a sorbent matrix by reacting in the subsurface. The second solution includes at least one chemical capable of reacting with at least one of the chemicals in the first solution in order to create the matrix. The first and second solutions are chosen so as to react on a time scale allowing at least one chemical in the first solution to bind to the soil.

A system and methods for providing location based services to a mobile station in a cellular wireless system. The system includes components that interact with position determining equipment to locate the mobile station within a region that is defined by a service provider. Once the system determines what service is being requested by the mobile station, the system associates the position of the mobile station with a provider-defined region that encompasses the location of the mobile station. A feature of the invention is the manner in which the system associates the provider-defined regions by first determining how the service provider's regions are categorized. The system contacts the service provider for the region over the Internet, and requests information that is appropriate to the position of the mobile station. With this method and system, a mobile station may request information on services that are available in his vicinity.

The present invention provides a method and system for helping to improve processing duration and successful position determination in a position-determining system. The position-determining system receives a request to determine position of a mobile station, such as a cellular wireless communication device, and the request includes a timer value indicative of the maximum allowed time for responding to the request. The position-determining system then dynamically determines how long to spend attempting a primary location-determination process, based on the indicated timer value and an expected time necessary to employ a fallback, or secondary, location-determination process. If the position-determining system fails to determine the position within the time allocated to the primary process, it resorts to application of the secondary position-determination process. If either the primary or the secondary tier of location determination determines a position, that position is returned to the requesting entity; otherwise, a default or error message is returned.
