摘要: Linerless label stock is produced from a single substrate utilizing a coating machine by moving the substrate through the coating machine and applying a tie coating to the substrate first face, a release coating to the substrate second face, and a pressure sensitive adhesive to the tie coating. The tie coating comprises a dispersion of a pigment, such as silica, with a binder, such as polyvinyl alcohol. The substrate is cut to form individual labels, and is rolled up into a roll with the release coated second face on the outside of the roll. Printing may be applied to the substrate prior to coating, or to the release coating.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a printable release composition used for pressure sensitive labels and the like. The invention is also directed to an article, such as a label, that comprises a substrate such as paper, optionally a thermal transfer primer coating coated onto the substrate and a release layer coated onto the transfer primer coating or onto the substrate. The printable release composition of the present invention may be used with labels having permanent, repositionable or removable adhesives. The particular composition of the release layer depends on the type of adhesive that is appropriate for the desired end use.

摘要: A method of increasing the tack of a pressure sensitive adhesive by exposing a polymeric pressure sensitive adhesive to an activating treatment, activatable articles containing such an adhesive and adhesive compositions resulting from such an activating treatment. The activatable, polymeric, pressure sensitive adhesive is preferably a water based adhesive prepared by free radical polymerization of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylate, or methacrylate monomers having from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms. The activating treatment is preferably corona charging or corona charging in combination with uv light.

摘要: Pressure sensitive adhesive linerless label assemblies having a primer layer and a breakaway layer capable of being separated from each other after the label is applied to a surface, thus leaving a portion of the assembly on the surface and removing the other portion. In one embodiment, the primer layer is an ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer and the breakaway layer is polyvinyl acetate. In another embodiment, the primer layer is a polyethylene emulsion and the breakaway layer is a polyurethane emulsion. In a third embodiment, the primer layer is a composition of a UV curable bisphenol A epoxy oligomer, pentaerythritol triacrylate, and a monofunctional styrene monomer, and the breakaway layer is polyvinyl acetate.
