A porous diffusive layer is interposed between these cells. Furthermore, the sensor comprises a heater for heating these cells. A control circuit produces a sensor cell voltage having an A.C. component to detect the impedance of sensor cell. The electric power supplied to the heater is controlled based on a detected impedance value of the sensor cell.

    摘要: A limit-current type A/F sensor produces element current responsive to oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas when a voltage is applied to its sensor element portion. An application voltage control circuit comprises an operational amplifier and resistors. An output of the control circuit is applied to one terminal of the A/F sensor via a driver circuit. The other terminal of the A/F sensor is connected to an output terminal of an operational amplifier via a current-detecting resistor. The element current value, detected by the current-detecting resistor, is returned to the application voltage control circuit via a buffer. In the application voltage control circuit, adjustment of the gain is performed in such a manner that the inclination of the application voltage line on the V-I coordinate becomes larger than the inclination equivalent to the A.C. impedance of the sensor element in the sensor activated condition.

    摘要: A gas concentration sensing apparatus includes a gas introducing portion for introducing a measurement gas. A first cell opposed to the gas introduction portion operates for pumping oxygen from the measurement gas in the gas introducing portion. A second cell opposed to the gas introducing portion operates for sensing a concentration in a specific component of the measurement gas from which oxygen has been pumped by the first cell. There is a reference gas chamber to which at least one of the first cell and the second cell is exposed. The one of the first cell and the second cell which is exposed to the reference gas chamber includes an electrode facing the gas introducing portion. A current flowing through the first cell is sensed. A voltage is applied to the first cell in response to the sensed current through the first cell. A current flowing through the second cell is sensed. A voltage is applied to the second cell in response to the sensed current through the second cell. A voltage at the electrode is floated from a voltage of 0 V.

    摘要: A gas concentration measuring apparatus is provided which includes a gas concentration sensor consisting of a pump cell, a sensor cell, and a monitor cell. The pump cell works to determine the concentration of O2. The sensor cell works to decompose an oxygen containing gas such as NOx and provide an output indicative of the concentration of NOx. The apparatus also includes an applying voltage determining circuit which looks up a predetermined voltage-to-current relation to determine a target voltage to be applied to the pump cell as a function of the current produced by the pump cell so as to preclude the pump cell from decomposing the oxygen containing gas component, thereby minimizing an error in determining the concentration of oxygen containing gas as a function of the output of the sensor cell.

    摘要: A gas concentration measuring apparatus is provided which measures the concentration of a given gas using a gas sensor. The gas sensor includes a sensor element producing a gas concentration signal indicative of the concentration of the gas, a heater heating the sensor element, and an insulator disposed between the sensor element and the heater. The apparatus includes a heater control circuit which may provisionally supply electrical power to the heater by applying a Pulse-Width-Modulated signal. The heater control circuit performs a switching operation to supply power to the heater cyclically. The apparatus corrects an error contained in the gas concentration signal arising from a leakage current flowing into the sensor element through the insulator during the switching operation of the heater control circuit.

    摘要: A gas concentration measuring apparatus for use in air-fuel ratio control of automotive engines is designed to determine the concentration of oxygen within a wide and a narrow range using a sensor current flowing through a sensor element. The apparatus includes an amplifier circuit equipped with an operational amplifier and a plurality of amplifying resistors and a switch. The switch is responsive to a request signal to switch a relation in electrical connection between an operational amplifier and the amplifying resistors to distribute the amplifying resistors into an input resistor and a feedback resistor for the operational amplifier to change an amplification factor of the amplifier circuit. This results in a change in resolution of measurement of the concentration of oxygen, thereby ensuring enhanced accuracy in determining the concentration of oxygen in a selected one of the narrow and wide ranges.

When the sending element is warmed up and activated by a heater, a microcomputer controls electric power supplied to the heater based on a control base value being set according to a duty ratio=100%. A power profile P1 is determined beforehand to set a target heater power. Through the warm-up heater power control, an actual heater power supplied to the heater is equalized to the target heater power determined according to the power profile P1.

    摘要: A gas concentration measuring apparatus is provided which may be employed in measuring an air-fuel ratio of mixture sucked into automotive engines. The apparatus includes a gas concentration sensor exposed to a gas and a voltage applying circuit. The gas concentration sensor is responsive to application of voltage to produce a current signal indicative of concentration of the gas. The voltage applying circuit includes an operational amplifier which operates on a source voltage and which outputs the voltage for developing the voltage applied to the gas concentration sensor which has a level changing as a function of voltage inputted to the operational amplifier. The operational amplifier is designed to have an amplitude of each of the voltages inputted to and outputted from the operational amplifier which falls within a given input/output voltage range defined between an upper limit and a lower limit of a source voltage range and near at least one of the upper and lower limits of the source voltage range, thereby allowing the air-fuel ratio to be measured with higher accuracy over a wide range.

    摘要: A sensor control apparatus includes an applied voltage control circuit connected to the positive terminal of a sensor element. The applied voltage control circuit includes a reference power supply and a noninverting amplifier circuit connected to the reference power supply. An AC power supply circuit, a buffer and a current measurement resistance are connected in series to the negative terminal of the sensor element with the current measurement resistance disposed between the AC power supply circuit and the sensor element. One terminal of the current measurement resistance, which is on the side opposite to the sensor element, is held at a reference voltage (center voltage of an AC voltage generated from the AC power supply circuit). Voltage at an intermediate point between the current measurement resistance and the sensor element is inputted via a low-pass filter to the noninverting amplifier circuit of the applied voltage control circuit.
