Abstract: The invention comprises the compound 1,1,1,5,5,5 - hexamethyl - 3 - trimethylsiloxy-3-vinyl trisiloxane of the formula: CH2=CHSi[OSi(CH3)3]3, and polymers thereof. The compound may be prepared by (1) cohydrolysis of vinyl trichlorosilane and trimethylchlorosilane in an aqueous organic solvent system; (2) reaction of tris-(trimethylsiloxy) silane with acetylene; or (3) equilibration of hexamethyl disiloxane with triethoxyvinylsilane. The compound polymerizes to soluble, linear polymers and may be copolymerized with other olefinic compounds such as styrene, acrylonitrile, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride and N-vinyl pyrrolidone and with sulphur dioxide. The trisiloxane or its copolymers may also be equilibrated with siloxanes such as dimethyl siloxanes.
