Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device having an organic light emitting device (OLED) display comprising a plurality of metapixels. Each metapixel of the plurality of metapixels may have two or more sets of emissive regions that are configured to: (i) emit blue light that is a combination of light from the two or more sets of emissive regions that are configured to emit the blue light for that metapixel, and/or (ii) that are addressable by the same drive circuit. The metapixel may include more than one independently addressable sub-pixel configured to emit green light and more than one independently addressable sub-pixel configured to emit red light.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device that includes an organic light emitting device (OLED), and a drive circuit to control the operation of the OLED, comprising a response time accelerator thin film transistor (TFT) configured to short or reverse bias the OLED for a predetermined period of time during a frame time. Other embodiments include an OLED having a plurality of sub-pixels, where one or more of sub-pixels configured to emit light of at least a first color comprises a first emissive area and a second emissive area that are independently controllable, where the first emissive area is larger than the second emissive area. The controller is configured to control the second emissive area to have (i) a higher brightness, and/or (ii) a higher current density than the first emissive area for a first sub-pixel luminance level that is less than a maximum luminance.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a display including a plurality of emissive surfaces, where each of the plurality of emissive surfaces has emissive devices that are deposited or attached in the same plane, with each of the plurality of emissive surfaces configured with independent scan and data drivers. Embodiments also provide an augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or mixed reality (MR) system having a plurality of displays that each rendering an image based on the provided light of a different color spectrum, and one or more waveguides through which the light from the displays is combined.

One or more regions of the single OLED emissive layer are independently switchable and controllable so that the wearable device is configurable to output a plurality of wavelengths of light. One of the plurality of wavelengths of light that is output is near infrared light.

Abstract: A full-color display and techniques for fabrication thereof are provided. The display includes first and second continuous independently addressable organic emissive layers disposed over a single substrate or between two substrates or portions of a flexible substrate. The use of continuous emissive layers of a limited number of colors allows for a relatively high resolution display to be achieved without the use of fine metal masks or similar components.
