摘要: Devices, arrangements, and techniques are provided to improve the color saturation of displays such as OLED displays while avoiding or substantially reducing any increase in power consumption that typically would be associated with such increase in saturation. A three-subpixel per pixel red/green/blue (RGB) architecture is provided as well as a four sub-pixel approach which uses two red sub-pixels for each pixel (red/red/green/blue, or R1R2GB).

摘要: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device having a full-color organic light emitting device (OLED) display having a plurality of pixels, with each pixel having a plurality of sub-pixels and where no individual sub-pixel of the plurality of sub-pixels emits white light. The OLED display may be configured to operate with a luminance of at least 1,000 cd/m2 at the D65 or higher white point, and using not more than a 0.5 mA/cm2 drive current for a blue sub-pixel of the plurality of sub-pixels based on an overall active area of the full-color OLED display.

At least one of the partially reflective electrode and the first transparent electrode may be configured to be independently addressable, and the first OLED may be configured to be separately driven from the second OLED.
