Abstract: Examples described here include systems and methods for refreshing the operating system (“OS”) of a device enrolled in a management platform. Execution of a first command file ensures that necessary components of the management platform residing on the device are stored in a partitioned portion of the device hard drive to preserve them during the OS refresh. After a new instance of the OS has been installed, execution of a second command file migrates the necessary components from the partitioned portion of the hard drive to the new OS instance. When the user logs back into the refreshed device, a third command file installs all necessary device management components at the new OS instance and re-enrolls the device with the management platform. In this manner, the OS of a managed device can be refreshed and re-enrolled in the management platform without significant input from a user or administrator.

Abstract: Systems and methods are included for causing a computing device to request ownership information and configure itself based on which tenant is associated with the computing device. During launch of an operating system, such as WINDOWS, the computing device can contact a server that tracks ownership information. The server can be identified in firmware or an operating system image of the computing device. The server can determine which operating system image and applications to install at the computing device. The server can provide addresses that the computing device can contact to retrieve portions of the operating system or applications.

Abstract: Various examples for providing execution of both a first management application and a second management application on a client device are provided. In one example, a client device can be configured to identify that a first management application, such as a legacy management application, installed on the client device has management privileges with an operating system of the client device. As the first management application is configured to generate a terminate command in response to detection of the second management application, the terminate command can be intercepted prior to a receipt of the terminate command by the operating system. As a result, the operating system does not terminate execution of the second management application on the client device, thereby allowing both the first management application and the second management application to co-exist on the client device.

Abstract: Examples of scheduled and on-demand volume encryption suspension are described. In some examples, volume encryption is to be suspended for a client device. A suspension limit is identified for a volume encryption suspension for the client device. A suspend encryption command is generated to include instructions for the client device to apply the volume encryption suspension according to the suspension limit. The suspend encryption command is transmitted to the client device for execution.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for managing a user device in multiple management modes. In an example, an agent executing on the user device can enroll the user device with a Unified Endpoint Management (“UEM”) system in a limited management mode. The agent can receive and install a first configuration profile from a server that configures the agent to operate on an unmanaged channel of the user device. In one example, the user device can have a third-party management client that manages the user device on a managed channel. The third-party management client can be removed. The agent can enroll the user device with the UEM in a full management mode. The agent can receive and install a second configuration profile that configures the agent to operate on the managed channel of the user device.

Abstract: Disclosed are various examples for an architecture to distribute Win32 applications. In one example, a specification of a Win32 application and deployment options are received. A specification of target client devices is also received. Respective management agents executed in individual target client devices are directed to install the Win32 application according to the deployment options. Status information from the respective management agents indicating installation success or failure is received. A report is generated based at least in part on the status information.

Abstract: Systems and methods are included for causing a computing device to assemble and boot from a managed operating system. When the computing device is powered on, it can execute firmware that specifies a server to contact. The server can identify an operating system (OS) to boot, and the location of a pre-enrollment installer for assembling the OS image. The pre-enrollment installer can download base OS images in one or more pieces from multiple locations determined based on ownership information of the computing device. The multiple OS images can relate to enterprise management and company-specific applications and drivers. Once the pre-enrollment installer has combined the base OS images, the computing device reboots using the combined OS image.
