Abstract: A system may receive a request from the UE device to establish a session overser plane of a network; establish a session over the user plane in response to the request from the UE device; receive, at a first node, uplink IP data from the UE device over the session; redirect the received IP data at the first node to a second node for translating IP data to a T8 message; translate, at the second node, the redirected IP data to a first T8 message; and forward the first T8 message to an application server or an application function (AF) node.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium having instructions to store data that provides mappings between criteria information and lists of codecs; receive an indication that one of an audio session, a video session, or an audio and video session is to be initiated with another device; obtain one or more criteria metric values in response to a receipt of the indication; select one of the lists of codecs from the data based on one of the mappings and the one or more criteria metric values; transmit the one of the lists of codecs to the other device via a wireless network; receive a response, via the wireless network, from the other device, wherein the response indicates one of the codecs; and use the one of the codecs during the one of the audio session, the video session, or the audio and video session.

Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for a policy and/or rules element of a core network, such as a Policy Control Function (“PCF”), to identify a first network slice with which a communication session between a User Equipment (“UE”) and a core network, such as a protocol data unit (“PDU”) session, is associated. The policy and/or rules element may identify a second network slice with which the communication session should be associated, such as based on traffic monitoring, network congestion monitoring, or other criteria, and may output an indication, indicating a second network slice, to a session control element, such as an Session Management Function (“SMF”). The session control element may cause the communication session to be moved from the first network slice to the second network slice based on receiving the indication.

Abstract: A device may receive data indicating a required quality of service (QoS), and may receive radio access network (RAN) information associated with a RAN, wherein the RAN information is provided by a centralized unit (CU) of the RAN. The device may provide the RAN information to a multi-access edge computing (MEC) platform, and may receive, from the MEC platform, a QoS request that requests the required QoS. The device may provide the QoS request to the CU, and may receive a QoS response to the QoS request. The device may provide the QoS response to a policy control function (PCF) of a core network, and may receive an indication of approval of the QoS response from the PCF. The device may cause, based on receiving the indication of approval, the required QoS to be implemented by the MEC platform and network devices associated with the core network.

Abstract: A system in wireless core network obtains a group policy to support background data transfer for a group of user equipment (UEs) associated with a common network area identifier. The system maps the network area identifier to one or more of a mobility management entity (MME) device and a packet data network gateway (PGW) device. The system generates a configuration command to enforce the group policy by the one or more of the MME device or the PGW device and configures, based on the configuration command, the one or more of the MME device or the PGW device to enforce the group policy.

Abstract: A first network device determines a set ID associated with a first set of management instances in at least one network, wherein the management instances execute network access or mobility management functions for UE interaction with a wireless network and wherein a first management instance is a member of the first set of management instances. The first network device determines a first pointer value associated with the first management node, generates a first global ID, for the first management instance, that includes the set ID and the first pointer value, and installs the first management instance at a second network device, along with the first global ID, the set ID, and the first pointer value. The first network device changes the first pointer value in response to an event, wherein the event is associated with planned maintenance, a planned upgrade, or an existing or predicted outage of the wireless network.

Abstract: A device may receive, from a network device, a user equipment (UE) parameter update request notification indicating an update to a UE parameter of a universal subscriber identity module (USIM), and may generate an encrypted UE parameter update request. The device may cause the encrypted UE parameter update request to be provided to the USIM to cause the USIM to update the UE parameter and to generate an encrypted UE parameter update response. The device may receive, from the network device, the encrypted UE parameter update response, and may verify an authenticity of content of the encrypted UE parameter update response based on whether the encrypted UE parameter update response is signed by the USIM. The device may provide, to the network device, a result indicating whether the UE parameter is updated and whether the authenticity of the content of the encrypted UE parameter update response is verified.

The MF may be configured to: receive, from the NEF, a first request to subscribe to a notification service offered by the SMF; send a create session request to a User Plane Function (UPF); receive a first response from the UPF to the create session request, wherein the first response includes binding information that pertains to an association between a User Equipment device (UE) identifier (ID) and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses; and send, as part of the notification service, a message that includes the binding information to the NEF.
