Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses to power off a modem receiver or components of the receiver at a time prior to the end of the frame based on data in the frame being received and properly decoded before the end of the frame. In an aspect, the apparatuses and methods provide power saving in a wireless device, and include receiving data within a frame at a user equipment, determining whether all payload packet data has been correctly decoded prior to an end of the frame, and powering down a receiver component for a portion of a remainder of the frame in response to determining that all payload packet data has been correctly decoded and where a first time period to a next scheduled overhead hit transmission period of a slot in the frame is greater than a second time period corresponding to a warm-up period for the receiver component.
Abstract:
A cutter device includes two plier levers pivotally coupled together, and each having a handle section on one end and an operating member on opposite end. The handle section of one of the plier levers includes a chamber to receive one or more spare blades. A handle shell is slidably engaged onto the handle section. A lock device may releasably lock the handle shell to the handle section. A casing is receivable in the handle section to receive the spare blades, and includes a resilient catch to engage through the handle section and to detachably engage and anchor the handle shell to the handle section when the handle shell is engaged onto the handle section.
Abstract:
A method of error correction using low density parity check (LDPC) codes is disclosed. A communications device receives a codeword and detects one or more bit errors in the received codeword using an LDPC code. The device then generates a corrected codeword based, at least in part, on a set of unsatisfied check nodes of the LDPC code. The device may determine that the one or more bit errors are associated with an absorption set of the LDPC code. The device may also determine a plurality of candidate codewords based on the set of unsatisfied check node and select the corrected codeword from the plurality of candidate codewords. Each of the plurality of candidate codewords may represent a valid codeword associated with the LDPC code.
Abstract:
A method and system for promoting customer loyalty with respect to any transactional activity is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes an accumulation phase and a disbursement phase. In the accumulation phase, a recency, a frequency, and an intensity of the customer's purchases is monitored and a loyalty score is determined therefrom. In the disbursement phase, the customer is offered a reward based upon the customer's loyalty score, including alternatively a share of a prize pool in a loyalty lottery or a discount on a further purchase by the customer.
Abstract:
A cushioned tool handle device includes a handle having a channel to receive one end of a tool member and having one or more orifices, the tool member includes one or more apertures aligned with the orifices of the handle to receive fastener pins which may secure the tool member to the handle. An outer cushioning sleeve is attached onto an outer peripheral portion of the handle, to enclose the orifices of the handle, and to stably retain the fastener pins within the orifices of the handle. Each fastener pin includes an extension having an outer diameter smaller than that of the fastener pin, to form a peripheral shoulder and to engage with the tool member, and to solidly secure the tool member to the handle.
Abstract:
A utility knife includes a handle having a passage to slidably receive a blade carrier which has a space to receive a knife blade and to move the knife blade into or out of the handle. The blade carrier includes a spring limb having a latch to engage with and to anchor the knife blade to the blade carrier. An actuator device may selectively disengage the latch of the spring limb from the knife blade, to release the knife blade from the blade carrier. One or more spare blades may be received in the handle, and one spare blade may be biased into the space of the blade carrier when the blade carrier is moved into the handle and when the space of the blade carrier is emptied.
