    摘要: A glow plug including a substantially cylindrical housing extending in an axial direction; a rod-shaped heater unit having a front end protruding from the front end of the housing and movable in the axial direction; a connecting member connecting the heater unit to the housing within the housing and allowing the heater unit to move in the axial direction; and a pressure sensor that detects pressure received by the heater unit. The heater unit has a large-diameter portion at the rear end thereof and a small-diameter portion frontward of the large-diameter portion and having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the large-diameter portion. The connecting member connects the small-diameter portion of the heater unit to the housing within the housing.

    摘要: A glow plug including a pressure sensor (830) and a heater (150). The glow plug includes a position-defining member which defines the positional relationship between the pressure sensor (830) and the heater (150) and has a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than that of the heater. The pressure sensor (830) is fixed at a predetermined sensor reference position relative to the position-defining member. The heater (150) is held by a heater-holding member (820) in such manner that an attachment position A of the heater-holding member to the heater can be displaced, with a change in external pressure, relative to a predetermined heater reference position defined by the position-defining member. A displacement transmission member (840) is arranged between the heater (150) and the pressure sensor (830) so as to transmit displacement of the heater (150) to the pressure sensor (830). The coefficient of thermal expansion of the displacement transmission member (840) is rendered greater than that of the position-defining member.

    摘要: A seal member (60) has a dual-tube structure consisting of an outer tubular seal member (160a) and an inner tubular seal member (160b); the outer tubular seal member (160a) is welded, at its rear end portion, to the inner circumferential surface of a forward-end housing (131), thereby forming a housing-side joint W2; the inner tubular seal member (160b) is welded, at its forward end portion, to a forward end portion of the outer tubular seal member (160a), thereby forming an inter-tubular-seal-member joint W3; and the inner tubular seal member (160b) is welded, at its portion located rearward of the joint W3, to the outer circumferential surface of the heater (10), thereby forming a heater-side joint W1. An action of pressing the heater forward is effected on the basis of an axial dimension L1 between the joints W2 and W1 shorter than an axial dimension between the joints W2 and W3 and is, therefore, mitigated.

The glow plug 100 includes a housing having a substantially tubular metallic shell extending in an axial direction and a substantially tubular cap member which is provided at the front end of the metallic shell, which is shorter in length along the axial direction than the metallic shell, and whose diameter decreases toward the front end thereof, a heater unit, a connecting member, and a pressure sensor. The cap member is formed of a material higher in tensile strength or yield strength than a material used to form the metallic shell, and the metallic shell is formed of a material higher in thermal expansion coefficient than that used to form the cap member.

The housing (2) includes a main body portion (21) having a screw portion (24), and a cap member (22) having a press contact portion (26) which is pressed against the internal combustion engine when the screw portion (24) is screwed into the mounting hole of an internal combustion engine.
