The shape and the size of the antenna are set according to an interval of the tape cassettes such that when the antenna is put in a positional state where the antenna confronts an objective tape cassette having a memory with which communication is to be executed, among the plurality of tape cassettes arranged in the magazine so that communication becomes possible, a memory of a tape cassette arranged adjacently to the objective tape cassette is located at a position corresponding to a dead zone of the antenna.

    摘要： The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus that allows separately forming regions having different roles. When an area definition region #0100h is newly formed under an area definition region #0000h that is formed on an IC card, information of the area definition region #0100h is encrypted using a service key stored in an area registration service definition region #0020h that is formed in advance, and the encrypted information is supplied to the IC card. Upon receiving that information, the IC card decrypts the encrypted information using the service key stored in the area registration service definition region #0020h. Then, the area definition region #0100h is formed based on the result of decryption. The present invention may be applied to an IC card that exchanges information in a non-contact manner and to an apparatus that exchanges data with the IC card.

Without performing a process for a command or response result communicated with an IC card, a reading device encapsulates the command or result into a command that is called a through command and that is independent of the type of IC card and delegates the process to a controller module. Thus, the reading device is independent of the type of IC card. A command and a process procedure which depend on the type of IC card are taken care of by a replaceable software module that is provided in the controller module and that corresponds to the card.
