    摘要: A method of regulating an output voltage by utilizing a switching regulator, where the switching regulator includes a high side switch, a low side switch having an active diode, a controller coupled to the high side switch and the low side switch, and a current measuring circuit coupled to the high side switch. The method includes the steps of: measuring the output voltage and if the output voltage is below a desired level, activating the high side switch so as to provide current to a load capacitor via a load inductor, if the voltage is above the desired level, activating the low side switch so as to sink current from the load capacitor via the load inductor; and utilizing the current measuring circuit to measure the current flowing through the high side switch in either a positive direction or a negative direction, where the controller is operable for controlling the current measuring circuit and disabling active components contained in the current measuring circuit and the active diode when the active components are not utilized during operation of the switching regulator so as to reduce operational power requirements of the switching regulator.

The driving circuit has a clamp circuit for receiving first and second bias potentials, outputting first and second drive signals which are not less than a reference potential, less than the first bias potential, and complementary to each other, and also outputting third and fourth drive signals which are higher than the second bias potential, not more than a power source potential, and complementary to each other. The output circuit has a first output transistor of a first conductivity type and a second output transistor of a second conductivity type which are connected in series to each other. The first output transistor has a gate for receiving the first drive signal and one electrode for receiving the reference potential. The second output transistor has a gate for receiving the third drive signal and one electrode for receiving the power source potential.

    摘要: The present invention provides a battery-driven electronic device for which a long time use of the battery can be achieved and mobile communications equipment such as a portable telephone. Even if the time at which the output voltage of a battery 201 becomes below the supply voltage required by a load 206 including a power amplifier for wireless communications comes earlier than a conventional lithium ion battery because of its discharge characteristics that the battery voltage change ratio is 0.25 or more, a step-up and -down converter 200 operates as follows. When the output voltage of the battery is higher than the supply voltage required by the load, the voltage is set to a predetermined supply voltage by the step-down operation mode. When the output voltage of the battery is decreased and becomes lower than the supply voltage required by the load, the voltage is set to a predetermined supply voltage by the step-up operation mode. Thus, even for a battery employing a new material having a high energy density, a long term use of the battery can be achieved.

    摘要: A switching power supply device which includes a series circuit constituted by a first switching element which is connected to an input voltage and which is at least repeatedly turned on and off and a second switching element which is repeatedly turned on and off alternating with the first switching element. A first capacitor is connected to one end of the second switching element. A transformer having a primary winding is connected to the second switching element and the first capacitor. A series circuit constituted by a second capacitor and a rectifier diode is connected across the secondary winding of the transformer, and a series circuit constituted by an inductance element and a smoothing capacitor is connected across the rectifier diode. A control circuit controls the turning on and off of the first and second switching elements based on the voltage across the smoothing capacitor. The voltage across the smoothing capacitor is supplied as the output.
