摘要： In known reels it has been attempted to attain the desired high speed, which is intended to maintain the tension of the line when a fish is swimming quickly towards the angler, by enlarging the outer diameter. This has the shortcoming that the handle is mounted on a large radius. This makes a fast cranking from the wrist impossible. When the handle is mounted on a smaller radius the force required in the struggle with a pulling fish becomes too great, which is equally disadvantageous. The described fishing reel is to produce the effect that a high line reel-in speed is attainable with a fish swimming towards the angler and a low force is attainable in the struggle with a pulling fish. The object is met in such a way that a handle 2 with a small radius and a second handle 3 with a large radius is assigned either to the spool 6 in reels of the direct-drive type or to the crank 1 in reels of the anti-reverse type.

摘要： A fly fishing reel comprises a large diameter spool having a broad width and a shallow line storage depth. The reel may have an arm-like body and a unique mounting member which, when attached to a fishing rod, positions the perimeter of the spool across a longitudinal axis of the rod. In an additional aspect, a drag mechanism is provided in a center hub of the spool. The drag mechanism is a unidirectional dual cone drag mechanism. The drag mechanism comprises a pair of opposing frictional conical race members, an inner race member inserted into an outer race member. The race members are biased into contact to create drag on the rotating spool. A roller clutch is utilized to produce a unidirectional drag mechanism. The roller clutch is configured to lock thereby causing relative rotation of the race members creating frictional drag only when the spool is rotated in the "reeling out direction."

摘要： A unidirectional coupling arrangement for sense-selectively coupling the rotation of a fishing reel spool to a braking or drag arrangement. First and second relatively rotatable elements of the coupling arrangement connect by interlocking teeth which on the first element are carried by an axially-deflectable discrete rotor entrained by a surrounding ring. In the coupled sense of rotation a cam engagement between the rotor and surrounding ring keeps the rotor axially against the complementary teeth on the second rotational element. The onset of rotation in the opposite sense creates a cam engagement between the rotor and surrounding ring which slides the rotor axially away from the second element, disengaging the coupling teeth. This avoids the clicking sound associated with conventional sprung pawls in the uncoupled condition.

The annular row of disk teeth being positioned to the outside of the cylindrical core of the spool. The spindle also includes a brake pad mounted between the clutch disk and the spool for frictionally engaging and resisting relative motion between them.

摘要： A fly-fishing reel has a line spool and an associated housing mountable on a fly rod. The line spool includes a tubular body with radially projecting edge flanges, the body being rotatably supported around its inner peripheral surface by carrier rollers rotatably mounted in the housing, the carrier rollers are journalled with a predetermined rotational drag so as to prevent the line spool from spinning. Thus, the inventive fly-fishing reel operates without any specific brake arrangement. The invention further includes a process for shifting a fly line mounted on a fly rod and on a fly fishing reel in which only the original fly line is substituted. Through the help of an auxiliary shaft mounted on the housing of the fly-fishing reel, the original fly line is wound on to an exchange spool leaving the backing line on the line spool of the fly-fishing reel. This backing line is then tied to a new fly line which is wound on another exchange spool which is substituted for the first mentioned exchange spool on the auxiliary shaft. Thereafter, the new fly line is wound onto the fly-fishing reel containing the backing line. This process enables replacing the old fly line with a new fly line without having to string the new fly line through the guides of the fishing pole.
