摘要: A rear-pivot-point lever, cam-enabled, captured-spring-biased nail trimmer is disclosed. A base plate with a front cutting edge is pivotally connected to a top plate with a front cutting edge at a central base pivot point. A spring is captured between the plates in a manner that biases the front cutting edges of the trimmer apart until the trimmer is actuated. The top plate has a rear end for receiving and pivotally cooperating with a cammed actuating lever, the front end of which is pushed downward/forward to act against the bias of the spring to close the cutting edges to cut a nail. Because the lever arm pivots at a pivot point or axle at or near the rear end of the trimmer, the thumb and finger(s) of the user are positioned at or near the front of the trimmer during use, and therefore, near the nail being trimmed. This results in stable and non-twisting operation. The lever may be swung around the plates of the trimmer to rest below the bottom plate in a compact configuration.

摘要: A fly fishing reel comprises a large diameter spool having a broad width and a shallow line storage depth. The reel may have an arm-like body and a unique mounting member which, when attached to a fishing rod, positions the perimeter of the spool across a longitudinal axis of the rod. In an additional aspect, a drag mechanism is provided in a center hub of the spool. The drag mechanism is a unidirectional dual cone drag mechanism. The drag mechanism comprises a pair of opposing frictional conical race members, an inner race member inserted into an outer race member. The race members are biased into contact to create drag on the rotating spool. A roller clutch is utilized to produce a unidirectional drag mechanism. The roller clutch is configured to lock thereby causing relative rotation of the race members creating frictional drag only when the spool is rotated in the “reeling out direction.” In another aspect, the roller clutch may be carried by a reversible clutch ring which detachably couples to one of the race members. The clutch ring is reversible thereby allowing the reel to be converted between left hand wind and right hand wind by simple reversing the clutch ring.

摘要: There is disclosed herein a suspension fork assembly particularly for use with bicycles. The assembly comprises an outer tube which can be mounted in and extend through the head tube of the bicycle frame, and an inner tube that telescopes within the outer tube. A shock absorbing system, preferably in the form of a cartridge is provided within the tubes. The inner surface of the outer tube and the outer surface of the inner tube each have a plurality of axially arranged opposing longitudinal flat sections, such as four on each tube. A plurality of needle bearings are disposed between the tubes on these flat sections. This arrangement, with the needle bearings arranged on the flat sections between the inner and outer tubes, allows the two tubes to freely telescope in and out with respect to one another without any significant static friction, and also serves to maintain torsional rigidity between the outer tube to the inner tube. The needle bearings thus bear radial loads as well as maintain the in line relationship of the outer and inner tubes for rotational forces while allowing the two tubes to freely telescope. Further, a rigid front blade is secured the inner tube to hold the front wheel of the vehicle and to provide bending and torsional stiffness.

摘要: A pedal is provided with a frontal half hoop or ring. A plastic cleat attached to the shoe of the cyclist has a circular plate that fits the loop or ring. Registry is achieved by a pin or hook that projects forwardly of the plate. The pin or hook captures the hoop or ring. To engage the coupling, the cleat is outwardly pivoted and then returned so that companion rigid clips on the cleat and the pedal interlock. A detent retracts downwardly as the clips move into engagement. Such downward movement is effected by a moderately sloped first cam surface; an adjoining steeply sloped second cam locking surface of the detent keeps the cleat in locked position. In an unlatched position, force can yet be effectively applied to the pedal whereby so that unrestrained complete separation or full latching are options while the bicycle is operated.

摘要: A suspension assembly, including inner and outer tubes that are adapted to the telescope with respect to each other. A self-contained shock-damping cartridge is disposed in the tubes and is removable as a unit. The cartridge has first and second chambers, which contain hydraulic fluid. A shaft movably extends substantially completely through both chambers, and a piston is associated with the shaft and the chambers such that movement of the shaft within the chambers forces hydraulic fluid from one of the chambers to the other, thus damping telescoping movement between the tubes. The cartridge is sealed to substantially prevent the hydraulic fluid from entering and exiting therefrom during telescoping movement.
