Abstract:
A method and apparatus for separating, spreading and distributing a solid or liquid particulate material. The particulate material is pneumatically conveyed into a centrifugal chamber within a rotor (20) operatable by the flow of material for centrifugal separation of the particulate material. The terminal edge of the circumference of the centrifugal chamber serves as an overflow for establishing a buffer store and has a flow-retarding inwardly directed flange. A baffle may be provided around the terminal edge to intercept the material flung out and to conduct the material, via hopper-like flow-retarding recesses, to different outlets provided around the terminal edge.
Abstract:
A machine for spraying a liquid for the treatment of plants and soils includes a nozzle fed by a pump and a pipe. The nozzle projects the liquid to be sprayed against the central portion of a rotary thrower. A collector in the form of a sector of a ring is fixed along the periphery of the rotary thrower without contact with it, so as to intercept the liquid projected except within an angle .theta.. The liquid intercepted by the collector is collected in a receiver and returned to the tank of the machine.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for distributing a flowable material onto a base surface and wherein a rotary member is rotatably supported concentrically within a mask, a flowable material supply to the rotary member deposits said material on the rotary member and said material is centrifuged uniformly from the periphery of the rotary member, said mask has slots through which selected segments of centrifuged material can pass while the spray segments striking the inside of the mask between the slots is arrested to achieve a spray pattern on the base surface in accordance with the arrangement of slots in the mask. In a preferred embodiment a second rotary member is located beneath the mask and material arrested by the mask constitutes a material supply to the second rotary member.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for applying an agricultural management material to targeted area. Exemplary agricultural management materials include viscous materials.
Abstract:
A fluid sprayer includes a fluid storage module having at least one fluid tank, and a dispersion module having a rotary spray head assembly in fluid communication with the tank to receive fluid therefrom. The rotary spray head assembly further atomizes the fluid, and the dispersion module further includes a blower assembly positioned upstream of the rotary spray head assembly for dispersing the atomized fluid from the rotary spray head assembly into the surroundings of the fluid sprayer. The fluid storage module is detachably coupled to the dispersion module to effect reconfiguration of the fluid sprayer between a first configuration in which the fluid storage module and the dispersion module are positioned in a side-by-side manner, and a second configuration in which the fluid storage module and the dispersion module are positioned in-line with each other.
Abstract:
A rotary spray head assembly includes a motor having an output shaft and a housing through which the output shaft at least partially extends. The housing includes an inlet communicable with a source of fluid. The rotary spray head assembly also includes an annular skirt extending from the housing, a passageway through the skirt having a first end in fluid communication with the inlet and a second end, and a hub coupled for co-rotation with the output shaft. The hub includes an annular groove into which the annular skirt at least partially extends, a circumferential interior surface at least partially defining the groove, and an aperture through the circumferential interior surface. Fluid introduced into the annular groove through the second end of the passageway is discharged outwardly through the aperture.
Abstract:
An apparatus or system for delivering a pesticide spray to a predetermined area, which includes a container for the pesticide to be delivered; a spraying portion, further including a substantially circular rotating member positioned on a central rotating axis; an upper circular shield positioned above and extending beyond the outer perimeter edge of the rotating member; a nozzle for injecting a quantity of pesticide onto the rotating member; a splash guard on the circular shield for directing the spray from the edge of the rotating member to the area of weeds below the shield covering the rotating member; and a powered device for moving the spraying member along the weeds to be sprayed, and for delivering the quantity of pesticide to the weeds. The apparatus may further include a rotating blade for cutting the weeds as the spray of pesticide is delivered beneath the circular shield.
Abstract:
A container for liquid such as herbicide has a internal flexible partition dividing the interior of the container into two compartments, one of which is liquid filled and communicates with an outlet, while the other communicates with the surroundings through a vent hole. The wall of the container has recesses for engagement by latching elements of delivery equipment to retain the container with respect to the delivery equipment.
