The shaft can have various cross-sectional configurations. The inserter shaft also can be designedly tapered or untapered and have a design curvature for particular use conditions. The shaft is held with a shaft handle (4). Use is by positioning line on the inserter shaft, inserting the inserter shaft containing the line through a space or aperture, grasping the line at an exit side of the space or aperture, removing the inserter shaft from the space or aperture, and releasing the line from the inserter shaft.

摘要： An integrally formed dental floss and leader which lends itself to oral prophylaxis especially for implants and bridges. The floss is captured by the leader through a hinged door which swings from an open to a closed position during fabrication to provide an integral unit for use by a floss user when closed. A leading portion of the door fits flush within a complementally formed support channel within a tethered end of the leader. A trailing portion of the door projects with an extension of a floor of the support channel, defining a tongue, to provide a floss support. A hinge defines a transition between the floor extension and the door. The hinge allows the door to pivot about the floss and enter the support channel with the floss interposed between the door and the tongue. Shoulders border the support channel providing reinforcement to the tethered end.

摘要： A device, a method of using such a device and a method for making such a device for threading floss between dental structures. The threading device is formed of a tube including a handle portion and a blade-like portion. A charge of dental floss is retained in the tube of which a lead portion extends through a tip aperture formed at a terminal tip or end of the blade-like portion. The lead portion is coated with a material to stiffen the same to further facilitate insertion of the device between dental structures. The device is formed by providing a tube and inserting a charge of floss therein. The tube and floss materials have different melting points such that the melting point for the floss material is greater than the melting point for the tube material. The tube is heated to its respective melting point whereupon a portion of the tube is formed into the blade-like portion. During the forming process, the lead portion of the floss is retained in place such that upon completion, it extends through the tip aperture.

摘要： A dental hygiene threading tool used to insert floss between teeth of a user who has permanent oral implants. Traditional flossing for individuals with oral implants and the methods of flossing between implants and the gum line presently available are time consuming and difficult, due to the lack of the space between the two structures. The disclosed device comprises a hollow tube used to guide a floss threading line or pull through guide into these tight spaces. The tube is then removed once the threading line has been inserted. A user feeds a strand of dental floss through the threading line loop and pulls the threading line with the dental floss through the space. Once the dental floss has been fed through the teeth, the flossing procedure may commence. The device dramatically reduces time and effort required to thread floss between teeth and oral implants.
