    摘要： A flange forming drill means for drilling a hole through the side of a pipe or the like and forming a hole encircling flange includes a drill rod mountable on a rotating power source with a drill bit at the lower end and associated retractable flange forming members which are extendable down below the edges of a drilled hole by turning an adjustment cone mounted on the drill rod. The adjustment cone is enclosed and keyed to an externally smooth, protective shield selectively securable to a locking ring on the drill at a plurality of relative angular positions around the drilling axis. The locking flange includes a circumferentially extending groove provided with holes or recesses at opposite ends defining terminal positions of locking so that in a first terminal locking position, the forming members are retracted completely within the outer surface of the drill bit and in a second terminal locking position the forming members extend or project outwardly from the drill bit for forming a flange around the drilled hole of a desired internal diameter as the drill bit is moved outwardly from the pipe.

    摘要： A tool for forming a lateral opening in a tube comprises an assembly which can be inserted longitudinally into a tube until it lies opposite to an opening (12) through which an operating member (44) can be passed for operative engagement with the assembly at 46. The assembly includes a wedge member (16) with wedge surfaces (22) extending symmetrically in relation to the direction of motion of the operating member (44). Two spreader bodies (28,30) are mounted on the wedge member (16) and after initial insertion of the tool the operating member acts to displace the wedge member and hence the spreader body so that it contacts and deforms the interior of the pipe. Complete withdrawal of the tool through the opening (12) deforms the metal surrounding the opening and after a suitable finishing process another tube can be welded at right angles to the first mentioned tube to form a T-piece.

    摘要： Apparatus and method for forming cylindrical tubular lateral extensions on cylindrical or oval body tube by swaging them from around an oval opening, which is narrower along the sides to compensate for the body curvature, the apparatus including a circular male swaging die with a profile that tapers at progressively decreasing angles to the stroke direction, i.e. a series of progressively steeper conical surfaces or a sphere. The die may be a complete ball which is rolled into a formed body tube; positioned over an opening therein and pushed therethrough by a ram driven through the opposite, aligned opening. The body tube may then be inverted and another ball rolled therein to be pushed through the opposite opening.
