    摘要: An electric discharge machining apparatus has improved responsive drivability and improved machining speed. A tool electrode has a tip end directed toward a work piece, a voltage applied between the tool electrode and the work piece generating a discharge. A drive shaft is connected with the tool electrode. An electrode driving device has magnetic bearings for moving the drive shaft in three directions, including a Z-axis direction, which is an axial direction of the drive shaft, a Y-axis direction perpendicularly crossing the Z-axis direction, and an X-axis direction perpendicularly crossing the Y-axis direction and Z-axis direction, by supplying electric current to electromagnetic portions to control magnetic attraction. A movable coupling is connected with an end of the drive shaft and is movable in the three directions. An electric motor is connected with an end of the coupling for rotating the drive shaft through the coupling.

High speed rotational control and angle position precision angle division control are accomplished by a single servo motor and a single encoder.

    摘要: A hydraulic drive system for positioning a part such as the electrode of an electrical discharge machine includes a hydraulic cylinder and a piston slidably mounted in the cylinder and separating it into opposite first and second chambers on opposite sides of the piston. A piston rod extends from the piston through one end of the cylinder for connection to a part to be positioned. A reservoir containing hydraulic fluid is mounted on the cylinder, and a pump has an inlet communicating with the reservoir and an outlet connected via passageways to the first and second chambers. Return passageways are provided for returning fluid from the chambers to the reservoir, and valves control fluid flow from the pump to the chambers and back from the chambers to the reservoir in order to drive the piston in opposite directions. The reservoir, pump, valves, and at least part of each connecting passageway are located within a single outer housing.

    摘要: A support base has adjustable slides mounted thereon. A cam arm is mounted at one end on a piston rod that is used to cause vertical movement of the cam arm. The opposing end of the cam arm has a bore that rotatably receives a sleeve therein. An electrode holder is pivotally mounted in the sleeve such that one end of the electrode holder extends beyond the end of the sleeve. The electrode holder is movable between a first normal working position and a second non working position that corresponds to movement of the cam arm. A drive motor and belt are engaged with the sleeve to cause rotation of the sleeve, electrode holder, and electrode to perform machining operations on a workpiece that the electrode is inserted into.

    摘要: An electric discharge machine has a movable ram assembly including a casing having a tubular support defining a through bore therein with an upper portion, a lower portion and a receiving space adjacent to the lower portion. A shaft vertically passes through the bore and the lower end of the shaft is connected to an electrode head. A device for moving the shaft vertically in the tubular support is provided in the casing. The casing also has an upper telescopic member extending upward from the upper portion and a lower telescopic member extending from the lower portion thereof. An insulating device is provided between the shaft and the tubular support to insulate the casing from the shaft. The insulating device includes an insulated tubular member in the lower portion, an insulated sleeve member around the shaft between the upper and lower portions, an insulated stop member at the top end of the shaft. A bearing member in the insulated tubular member and the insulated sleeve member holds the shaft vertically in the tubular support of the casing.
