A machining apparatus is disclosed, which includes a curved outer conduit, a curved rotary electrode and a driving motor. The outer conduit has a cavity and a fluid inlet in fluid communication with the cavity. The electrode includes a flexible shaft positioned in the cavity and having a first end and a second end, and a machining head having a fluid outlet in fluid communication with the cavity and electrically connected with the first end of the flexible shaft to be powered via the flexible shaft. The motor is mechanically coupled to the second end of the flexible shaft for driving the flexible shaft to rotate. A machining system is also disclosed, which includes the machining apparatus, a power supply for powering the flexible shaft, an electrolyte supply for providing electrolyte to the fluid inlet and a machine tool onto which the outer conduit and the motor are positioned.

The method is performed using a block with a truncated cone-shaped detection cavity and includes: finding a first center point of a circle on a first XY plane within the detection cavity; moving a tip of the electrode rod to the first center point; moving the electrode rod by a predetermined length (H) in a longitudinal direction thereof such that the tip of the electrode is disposed on a second XY plane; finding a second center point of a circle on the second XY plane; and calculating an inclination angle of the electrode rod by using a trigonometric function of a triangle in which the hypotenuse thereof is the predetermined length (H) and the adjacent side thereof is a distance from the tip of the electrode rod to the second center point on the second XY plane.

The method providing an insert having a through hole disposed at the center to concentrically accommodate and restrict the elastic seal, placing the insert into the collet, and inserting the electrode tube in the insert and the elastic seal, tightening the nut to the spindle to clamp the electrode tube and passing the EDM machining current from the spindle to electrode tube. The apparatus includes an insert having a retaining ring to restrict an elastic seal, a through hole to admit insertion by the electrode tube. The insert of the above method and apparatus comprises a guiding pipe to be secured in the collet, and a tapered guide hole interconnecting with the through hole to facilitate insertion of the electrode tube. Optional slots are provided at the lower portion of the guiding pipe.

With a spherical body in between serving as a center, the adjustment screws tilt the guide alignment base forward, backward, leftward, and rightward to adjust the perpendicularity of the guide. Horizontal adjustment screws through the guide alignment base secure the guide alignment base transversely such that the guide alignment base effectively achieves stable positioning to thereby prevent the vertical and horizontal deviation of the guide alignment base when it is impacted.
