    Abstract: A wheel for a pneumatic tire, particularly for use on racing cars, provided with at least one localized projection axially inwards of the wheel rim for preventing axially inwards displacement of the tire bead from the wheel rim flange and into the wheel well. Preferably the projections are members welded to the rim and formed with axially outward tire bead toe abutment faces and axially inwards sloping faces to assist tire fitting.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a rim for cycles, more particular for bicycles. The invention is also aimed at a tubeless mounted assembly consisting of the said rim and of a tire having in particular two flexible bead wires. According to the invention, the rim consists of two flanges, attached to two seats, intended to receive the beads of a tire, separated from each other by a mounting groove, and, according to the profile of the rim in a radial plane, the bead seats have a generatrix, the axially outer end of which is on a circle of smaller diameter than the diameter of the circle on which the axially inner end is situated, the said generatrix forming an angle with the axis of rotation of the tire of between 15 and 45 degrees.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a tire for mounting on the wheel rim of a vehicle. The tire comprises a pair of bead portions each reinforced by a bead hoop, at least one bead portion of the tire having an additional retention zone positioned axially inwards of and integral with the main bead portion, the retention zone having an axially inner tip or toe substantially inwards of the main bead portion and the construction of the bead portion and the additional retention zone between the bead hoop and tip providing substantial resistance to compressive forces therebetween. The portion between the bead hoop and the tip can include reinforcement and can comprise an elastomeric material having a hardness of 80 to 95 degrees I. R. H. The tip is formed from an elastomeric material having a set property at 70.degree. C. of greater than 40% so that when the tip is fitted to a wheel rim having sharp teeth in the region contacted by the tip, the material of the tip engages the teeth. The tip may be provided by means of a strip of material positioned at the axially and radially innermost point of the tire toe. The tire can also comprise a chafer layer extending around the outer periphery of the bead in which case the strip of material providing the tip is positioned on the outside of the chafer.

    Abstract: A tire and wheel rim assembly in which the rim includes adjacent to the bead seat a circumferentially extending groove and the tire bead has a radially and axially inwardly projecting toe, the tip of which is engaged in the groove whereby the toe is flexible perpendicular to its length to allow tire fitting.     Abstract: Improved assembly for removably securing an inflatable tire about a vehicle wheel includes a latching ring disposed in a circumferential receiving groove in the bead seat of the wheel adjacent the inner face of the tire bead. The latching ring includes a portion protruding above the bead seat for retaining the tire in place and a portion shearable by a force applied to the outwardly facing surface of the tire bead in excess of the force encountered during rotation of the vehicle wheel, whereby the tire may be removed without damage upon shearing of the shearable portion.
