Abstract:
An inflation valve for a tubeless tire may include a valve body defining a cavity having a proximal opening and a distal opening. A valve stem extends through the cavity and includes a plug at a proximal end of the valve stem. The proximal opening of the cavity is defined by a beveled surface, and an outer diameter of the beveled surface is larger than an inner diameter of the valve body. The valve is transitionable between: a) a closed position, where a resilient surface of the plug engages the beveled surface to seal the cavity, and b) an open position, where the resilient surface of the plug is spaced from the beveled surface to unseal the cavity.
Abstract:
Provided is a sealant material composition that makes it possible to ensure good sealing properties and to suppress sealant flow due to traveling. As a sealant material composition forming a sealant layer disposed on an inner surface of a pneumatic tire, a sealant material composition comprising from 1 part by mass to 40 parts by mass of an organic peroxide and from 0.1 parts by mass to 40 parts by mass of a crosslinking agent, being blended, per 100 parts by mass of a rubber component containing a chlorinated butyl rubber, is used.
Abstract:
A system. The system includes a wheel, a tire and a bead lock assembly. The wheel defines an axis of rotation and includes an outboard wheel flange and an inboard wheel flange. The tire is mounted on the wheel, and the tire and the wheel cooperate to define a tire cavity. The bead lock assembly is within the tire cavity, and has a radially outermost surface which is a first distance from the axis of rotation. At least one of the outboard and inboard wheel flanges has a radially outermost surface which is a second distance from the axis of rotation. The first distance is greater than the second distance.
Abstract:
A running set comprising: a tire (10) comprising two beads (20); a mounting rim (500) of which the width is greater than or equal to 55% and less than or equal to 80% of the maximum axial width of the tire inflated to its service pressure; and at least one adapter (100) which provides the connection between the mounting rim and a bead of the tire.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire which contains a built-in zoned puncture sealant layer. The zoned puncture sealant layer is comprised of organoperoxide depolymerized butyl rubber zones comprised of a central primary zone and lateral zones joined together to form a unitary sealant layer. The sealant of the lateral zones of the sealant layer is of a higher storage modulus (G′) than the sealant of the central zone.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for preventing rotatory slippage between a tire and wheel assembly, wherein said method comprises: determining a zone of a bead surface having a substantially non-evolutionary surface contact pressure between a bead surface and a rim surface; increasing said surface contact pressure between said bead surface and said rim surface in said determined zone. The invention also includes tires and tire and wheel assemblies that are obtained by the method.
Abstract:
Locking device for locking the beads of a tire cover against the flanges of a wheel rim onto which said cover is fitted, said device comprising an annular structure attached around said rim, characterized in that said structure is lightened so that its weight is less than 10 kg and in that it includes, at least locally, means for stiffening it so as to increase its mechanical resistance to compressive forces exerted by said beads against said structure.
Abstract:
It has been unexpectedly found that certain blends of styrene-butadiene rubber and platey filler exhibit both good gas barrier properties and good tensile fatigue properties. These blends accordingly have the requisite characteristics for a tire innerliner material. They offer the advantage of being much less expensive than halobutyl rubbers which can be employed for the same purpose. The present invention more specifically discloses a pneumatic tire having an integral innerliner wherein said innerliner is comprised of a blend of (1) from about 40 phr to about 99 phr of a first styrene-butadiene rubber having a bound styrene content of about 15 percent to about 30 percent, (2) from about 1 phr to about 60 phr of a high styrene content styrene-butadiene rubber having a bound styrene content of about 40 percent to about 60 percent, and (3) from about 40 phr to about 125 phr of platey filler. The subject invention also discloses a pneumatic tire having an integral innerliner wherein said innerliner is comprised of (1) a styrene-butadiene rubber having a bound styrene content of about 15 percent to about 30 percent, and (2) from about 125 phr to about 200 phr of platey filler.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire to be mounted on a normal rim, has a pair of bead parts each having a bead bottom surface seating on a rim seat of the normal rim and bead outside surface connecting with the bead bottom surface and abutting against a rim flange of the normal rim. The bead outside surface is provided with an exhaust extending outward in the radial direction from an inner end of the exhaust so as to form the air passage for escape of air between the rim flange and bead outside surface at the time of rim assembly. The inner end of the exhaust is positioned within a region remote from a bead base line by a distance of 0.5 to 1.5 times a separating point height Fh defined as a height in the radial direction from the bead base line to a separating point at which the bead outside surface separates from the rim flange.
Abstract:
A decorative trim attachment for universal application to vehicle wheels and comprised of an elongated member of flexible material installed between the wheel rim and tire bead by deflating the tire without removal from the wheel, characterized by a bead of selected color integral with a fin member for wheel-tire anchorage.
