    摘要: The invention is directed to a low-temperature cooler using dry ice as a cooling agent. The cooler has two compartments, one for the dry ice and one for chilled storage. The cooler self-regulates via an aqueous filled temperature-regulating valve to maintain a desired temperature in the storage compartment such that the products stored therein are stored at an optimum temperature. Upon achieving a predetermined temperature in the storage compartment, the valve closes, thereby maintaining the predetermined temperature in the storage compartment.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a method for charging a self-chilling beverage can, in a self-chilling beverage can of the type involving a container-within-container construction wherein, for example, a granular carbon material is contained within the inner container, and charged with a gas that is absorbed into the carbon material under pressure, the beverage being placed into the space between the inner and outer containers, and further whereupon release of the charging gas, the temperature of the carbon material drops rapidly, enabling a transfer of heat from the contained beverage through the wall of the inner container into the carbon material. The present invention is directed to a method for providing accelerated charging of the charging gas into the inner container, while absorbing and/or transporting away heat generated by the compression of the charging gas. The invention is also directed to an apparatus for facilitating charging of such a self-chilling container. The present invention is also directed to a self-heating container.

    摘要: A receptacle for maintaining perishables, such as food, at a reduced temperature features an exterior shell joined to an interior shell so that a space occupied by a vacuum exists between them. The junction of the inner and outer shells is located on the exterior of the receptacle. Phase change material is disposed within compartments in the bottom of the receptacle and is covered by a false bottom. A cryogenic liquid, such as liquid nitrogen, is poured down the interior walls of the receptacle and into the compartments containing the phase change material so that the phase change material is frozen in situs. A liquid absorbing material may be substituted for the phase change material.

    摘要: A cooling system built into a drinking mug. The mug contains a cooling ribbon spirally wound about the interior beverage holding area of the mug. A mobile cylinder container interconnects the ribbon channel with a replaceable nitrogen gas cartridge housed in a vacuum chamber located in the bottom of the mug. The cooling system is hand activated by a spring-loaded mechanism which moves the mobile cylinder container into and out of engagement with the ribbon channel. This arrangement buffers the ribbon channel from the gas cartridge and ensures that only measured amounts of the cooling gas from the gas cartridge are inserted into the ribbon channel. This arrangement also provides a means for supplementing the amount of cooling gas in the ribbon channel.

A refrigerant chamber, containing a pressurized refrigerant, is integral with the base of the fluid chamber and extends at least partially into the fluid chamber. The interior region of the refrigerant chamber is fluidicly isolated from and thermally coupled to the interior region of the fluid chamber. A refrigerant dispersal assembly defines a vented dispersal region including a portion adjacent to the refrigerant chamber and separated from the interior of that chamber by a perforatable wall. A cooling activator is adapted to selectively form a fluidic path from the interior of the refrigerant chamber to the dispersal region through the perforatable wall, permitting release and expansion of the pressurized refrigerant.
