The panel consists, at the inside of the furnace, of a thick and corrugated wall to which is welded, at the outside of the furnace, a second thinner wall, the two walls defining passages adapted for the circulation of the water. The invention is used in electric arc furnaces for steel mills.

    摘要: A box-shaped shallow, water-cooled element of steel plate for the construction of a wall portion of a melting furnace above the melt in the furnace, has a front wall adapted to face the interior of said furnace. This front wall is provided with a plurality of recesses of equal cross-section equally spaced from each other in the form of elongated grooves or bores to facilitate adhesion of a layer of refractory material to be applied thereto, wherein the recesses are machined in the surface of the front wall adapted to be directed to the interior of the furnace in such a manner that the area of recesses at this surface is smaller than the area of the remaining non-machined surface to thus enhance heat conduction from the interior of the furnace to the cooling water passing through the wall element and to prevent damage of the front wall when the protective layer is missing completely or in part.

    摘要: Furnace cooling apparatus is provided including iron staves on the inside of a steel shell, outer portions of the staves being hollow to define reservoirs filled with water. Heat pipes are mounted in bores in inner solid portions of each stave and extend from inner ends in the reservoir to outer ends spaced a short distance from the inner surface of the stave. The inner surface of a stave has alternating surfaces and recesses and heat pipes aligned therewith have corresponding long and short lengths.

    摘要: A coolant fluid chamber is affixed to the shell of an electric arc furnace to cool and decrease erosion of the refractory lining of the furnace caused by localized heating and arc flaring. The wall of the cooling chamber adjacent the furnace shell comprises a diaphragm or sheet of flexible material which is subject to deformation when the space between it and the furnace shell is evacuated and the sheet is pressed. The interface between the diaphragm and shell is coated with a flowable or deformable heat conductive material prior to attachment of the chamber to the furnace so that this material will flow into any void spaces in the interface to thereby enhance thermal conduction.

The wear rate of the furnace interior side surface of the stave cooler is small, and its structure prevents the heat resistant steel plate(s) from falling out by thermal expansion of the stave cooler proper or wearing locally.

The arc furnace is provided with water cooling devices including a water-cooled ring, carbonaceous bricks, high-alumina ramming masses, and burner tiles in parts of the furnace wall and roof, particularly at wall parts where the burners are mounted, the wall above the slag line, and a roof part where an exhaust gas outlet is formed.
