摘要： A digital watch has a fluorescent display which is selectively actuated by depressing a button which extends through the watch casing. The watch crystal is formed from a scratch resistant mineral glass, and has a thin film mercury coating on the inner surface. The mercury coating may be sandwiched between the watch crystal and a thin transparent plastic film. When the fluorescent display is activated the display may be seen by the outside world through the watch crystal. However, when the fluorescent display is inactivated, the watch crystal appears as a mirror to the outside world. In a second embodiment of the invention, a tinted watch crystal is utilized in conjunction with a fluorescent display.

摘要： An electronic device including a switch member which has a multiplicity of switch contacts provided thereon, a film liquid crystal display unit disposed above the switch member and having openings provided at positions opposite to the respective switch contacts, and operation members disposed in the corresponding openings so as to depress the operation members from above the film liquid crystal display. By the depression of the respective operation members, the corresponding switch contacts are switched. According to this structure, the switching operations are performed on the film liquid crystal display unit, so that the operability of the switches is improved and the device itself is miniaturized.

摘要： An electro-optical digital display particularly suited for use in an electronic wristwatch is provided. The display includes a transparent ceramic material formed as a plate having a pair of opposed major surfaces. Circuitry selectively applying an electric field to the ceramic material, the circuitry including a first transparent electrode engaging a first major surface of the plate and a second reflective electrode adapted to reflect light incident thereon provided from the second major surface of the plate. The first transparent electrode is segmented to define selected regions of application of an electric field to the selective regions of a ceramic plate. A polarization device for circular polarization is disposed adjacent the transparent electrode in the path of incident light upon the transparent electrode, incident light being reflected at selected regions by the reflective electrode in response to the selective energization of the segmented and reflective electrodes, the plate appearing opaque to incident light in the absence of such selective energization.
