Abstract:
The present invention relates in general to the field of voice and data communications, and in particular, to a novel system for providing interoperable on-demand communications and services across otherwise incompatible narrowband voice and broadband systems. The system is also based on sponsored or universal communications services supported by interactive communications between sponsors and service providers and their respective databases of business rules.
Abstract:
In a system including a telematics unit and a data center, a method for automatically replenishing pre-paid calling units within the telematics is based on an occurrence of a trigger event as detected by the telematics units. Upon being notified of the trigger event, the data center automatically uploads a replenishment package to the telematics unit or uploads a replenishment package selected by the telematics unit.

Abstract:
The present invention is a method and apparatus for providing prepaid card service to customers for placing telephone calls without relying on a post-service billing model. A service management computer having access to a card database is connected to the network only by out-of-band connections. A voice response unit or a tone receiver and announcement player in the network are the voice interface with the customer and are provided at the originating switch in the network to eliminate multiple switches from the call path.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a system and method for providing a personal identification number (PIN) to a client terminal over a computer network. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a server receives a request for a PIN over a network, the request originating from a user at a client terminal. The request is associated with a requested monetary unit and a requested provider. The server retrieves from a database a PIN associated with the requested monetary unit and requested provider. The server transmits the retrieved PIN to the client terminal over the network, wherein the PIN is transmitted to the client terminal on-demand in response to the customer's request.
Abstract:
A software process setting time limits for telephone calls so that a subscriber's account balance is not exceeded. The method estimates the time when the subscriber's balance will expire by using total charges for all calls per second. The process accounts for time already paid for, reserving the minimum continuation time for adding a new call, reserving time for all calls up to the latest paid for time, dividing the remaining balance by total charges per second to estimate the time left before the subscriber's balance reaches zero, an setting the time limit for each call accordingly.
Abstract:
A system and method for charging a prepaid account for telephony services reserves portions of a balance of the prepaid account to pay for telephony services that have been requested by a user. Once the final charges for providing the telephony services are known, the balance is reduced by the amount of the actual charges, and any portion of the reserved amount is released.
Abstract:
A method includes a processor of a mobile telephone receiving a top-up request for an offline balance in an offline payment application of the mobile telephone, and opening an over-the-air (OTA) connection to a top-up authorization server computer. The user is prompted to enter a monetary amount for the offline balance and to enter a form of authentication. The method also includes receiving a monetary amount input and a user authentication input, authenticating the user, calculating a cryptogram and transmitting an OTA top-up request message to the top-up authorization server computer. In addition, the method includes receiving an OTA response indicating authorization of the top-up request and including a script. The processor then executes the script to increase the offline balance stored in the mobile telephone by the monetary amount.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for providing prepaid telephony service via an Internet protocol (IP) network system. A first method provides controlling at least one media agent or call routing station/switch of an IP network system for allowing and/or blocking call media streams from traversing through the media agent. A second method provides directing all signaling messages transmitted by a signaling agent or station and all media packets transmitting voice and data communications through at least one common device within the IP network system. The methods further provide for continuously monitoring a subscriber's account balance and terminating the prepaid telephony service if the account balance is less than a predetermined amount.
Abstract:
An over the air (OTA) Prepaid system, and a corresponding method, allows wireless connectivity when a wireless network would typically reject a user, such as when the user's profile cannot be validated. In wireless networks, unrecognized users are denied service due to the inability of the network to collect funds from the user for the services to be provided. When such a rejection scenario occurs, the OTA Prepaid system automatically (no user interaction required) initiates the process of local account allocation.
