An image forming apparatus comprises: a receiver which receives facsimile or print data file in a page description language, from an information processing apparatus; a spooler which stores the facsimile or print data file received therefrom, on the spooler itself; a converter which converts the facsimile or print data file stored on the spooler, to an image data format; a job generator which generates a job based on the obtained image data file; a facsimile transmitter; a printer; and a job controller which instructs the facsimile transmitter or the printer to perform facsimile transmission or printing according to the generated job, respectively. And the converter selects the facsimile or print data file among those stored on the spooler, based on the state of the printer and the state of the facsimile transmitter, before converting the facsimile or print data file to an image data format.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and systems for steganographically encoding a file which is in a page description language (PDL) such as PostScript. Aspects of the present invention can be used to: i) encode a PDL file and generate an encoded PDL file; and ii) provide an “interpreter” which generates raster images from a PDL file. Portions of the raster images can be steganographically encoded. Encoded raster images can be printed or the raster images can be combined into a new PDL file.

An image data processing system comprises: a first storing unit that previously stores an apparatus information corresponding to an image recording apparatus; a determining unit that determines whether or not the apparatus information stored in the first storing unit is in a predetermined range of values; a notifying unit that notifies whether or not a content of the apparatus information is normal based on a result determined by the determining unit; an instruction acquiring unit that acquires an instruction indicating whether or not an image data is converted by using the apparatus information stored in the first storing unit; a converting unit that converts an image data based on the instruction; and an image data supplying unit that supplies the image data to the image recording apparatus corresponding to the apparatus information.

A method for controlling an information processing apparatus connected to a printing apparatus including a storage device includes acquiring a status of the printing apparatus; generating a first print file from image data in accordance with the status of the printing apparatus; transmitting the first print file to the printing apparatus; generating and transmitting an instruction to the printing apparatus to perform printing using the first print file; generating a second print file from the image data in accordance with a status that is different from the status of the printing apparatus; transmitting the second print file to the printing apparatus; and generating and transmitting an instruction to the printing apparatus to store the first and second print files in the storage device thereof.
Abstract:
A document transmission apparatus reduces troublesome labor of an operator when transmitting document data, inputted from a scanner or the like, by various transmission methods such as electronic mail, facsimile, remote printing and file transfer. An address book containing a receiver and a plurality of transmission methods for transmitting document data to the receiver is generated. Upon transmission instruction, an appropriate transmission method is selected by the receiver, then document data is converted into data of an appropriate data format, and the converted data is transmitted. Further, a notice of transmission indicating that the document data has been transmitted is transmitted to the receiver of the document data by a method different from the transmission method of the document data. Thus, the document data can be reliably delivered to the receiver.

There is provided a communication device comprising: a conversion unit configured to convert first data to second data having a predetermined format; a communication interface configured to interface the communication device with a network; a transmission unit configured to transmit the second data to an external device through the communication interface; a judgment unit configured to judge whether trouble would arise with respect to transmission of the second data to be executed by the transmission unit; and a storage control unit configured to store the second data while associating identification information of the external device with the second data in response to a fact that the judgment unit judges that the trouble would arise with respect to the transmission of the second data.

A system, method, and apparatus for a virtual fax machine are provided. In one embodiment, a system for a virtual fax machine is provided including a computer configured to display a virtual fax machine based on a script, a server configured to receive at least one electronic document associated with a fax to be sent using the virtual fax machine, and a traditional facsimile machine configured to receive the fax to be sent. In another embodiment, an apparatus for a virtual fax machine is provided including a computer configured to locate and execute a script associated with a virtual fax machine, display the virtual fax machine, associate at least one electronic document with a fax to be sent, encode the at least one electronic document to a form suitable for communication over a network, and transmit the encoded electronic document over the network as the fax to be sent.

An image processing apparatus includes a CPU, a memory, and a bus connecting the CPU and the memory, and performs a process for printing print data. The image processing apparatus includes an input unit for inputting print data from an external device, a conversion unit for converting print data into raster data, and a measuring unit for measuring a time required for conversion in the conversion unit. Measurement is performed by the measuring unit, and based on the measurement result, the setting for slowing down the speed of conversion processing in the conversion unit is made (for example, the setting for reducing at least one of the operating frequency of the CPU, the power supply voltage of the CPU, and the operating frequency of the bus). Thus, an effective power saving process can be performed.

A method for processing a still image and a broadcast receiving apparatus thereof is provided. The method for processing a still image includes transmitting to an external apparatus a still image selected by a user using a GUI window to select a desired still image from among still images of a stored broadcast. Accordingly, the user can conveniently use the home network service.

An image processing system includes an image processing apparatus and an information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus transmits to the image processing apparatus, a job and storage location information indicating a storage location of base data of data included in the job, collectively. Receiving the job and the storage location information, the image processing apparatus records the job and the storage location information in a memory, with interconnections between them.
