摘要: A clamp comprises a pair of pivotally connected jaws. A spring urges the jaws apart. A screw extends from the first jaw through the second jaw and projects above the second jaw. An operating lever for clamping and unclamping the jaws is screw threadedly received on the screw above the second jaw. The screw may be locked against rotation by engagement of the screw with a seat in the first jaw. With the screw locked against rotation, rotation of the lever around the screw selectively clamps and unclamps the jaws around an article. To adjust the distance of separation between the clamping surfaces of the jaws before rotation of the lever, the screw is axially shifted off its seat on the first jaw and the screw is then rotated with respect to the operating lever to adjust the height of the operating lever along the screw. Thereafter, the screw reengages the seat in the first jaw to prevent further rotation of the screw.

摘要: An electrical insulator having opposed jaws with at least one of the jaws being adjustable in relation to the other jaw for clamping an electrical conductor therebetween. The jaws are part of plastic pieces which are molded at elevated temperatures and which undergo thermal contraction when cooled subsequent to the molding process. Opposed grooves are provided in the confronting surfaces of the jaws. Liner members consisting of a material different from that of the jaws are received in the grooves. The liner members are sized for ready insertion into the grooves while the interior groove dimensions are expanded as a result of the elevated molding temperatures. The subsequent thermal contraction of the internal groove dimensions during cooling results in the liner members being firmly anchored within the grooves.

摘要: A flange member has a bearing surface for engaging a clamping surface of one flange of a pair of mating flanges. A pair of slots residing in opposite sides of the flange member are disposed above and at an angle oblique to the bearing surface. The flange member resides within a lock member and is slidably linked thereto by a pin projecting through each of the slots. A wedge resides in an opening in the flange member, above the bearing surface. An adjustable spacer means, bearing between the lock member and the wedge, urges the wedge and the pins into engagement with the other flange of the pair of mating flanges, providing three distinct areas of clamping.

摘要: A pipe shutoff tool, operable from above the surface of the ground, for squeezing closed a section of plastic pipe located below ground level. The tool includes a handle assembly coupled to a closure assembly so that opposingly mounted die members carried on the closure assembly may be moved into and out of engagement by jack means operable from the handle assembly. A die-positioning linkage extends from the handle assembly to one of the die members and is operable to rotate one of the die member between a first position, associated with squeezing shut the pipe, and a second position associated with mounting the tool onto the pipe. The tool further comprises separate spring devices centered on opposite faces of one die member for laterally and axially centering the tool on the pipe.
