摘要： A deburring apparatus for cutting beards formed at edges of slabs as a result of torch cutting of strands during continuous steel casting operations is disclosed. The apparatus includes extendable pistons having deburring tools mounted thereon. The deburring tools are arranged such that rotation between adjacent tools is substantially prevented. Compressed air containing a lubricant is used to extend the pistons and cool the deburring tools.

摘要： A heavy-duty shear adapted to be attached to a backhoe includes a fixed blade member with at least one blade insert attached to the fixed blade member. A movable blade is pivotally attached to the fixed blade with at least one blade insert attached to the movable blade. A piercing tip is attached to a front end of the movable blade with the blade inserts positioned between the piercing tip and the pivot point. The piercing tip extends to blade inserts of the moveable blades. The piercing tip may include a front end having a projection on a lower side thereof along a centerline of the piercing tip. The piercing tip of the present invention is designed to more easily sever material to be cut by the shear with the primary cut of the piercing tip being substantially perpendicular to the cut achieved by the blade inserts of the shear.

摘要： A shearing machine includes a sickle shaped upper jaw interacting scissors fashion with a generally linear lower jaw. The distal ends of the sickle shape begin shearing from opposite ends of a plate-type object at about the same time, with shearing progressing toward a central point. A transverse member and a return leg form, with the lower jaw, a J-shaped device. The upper jaw slides within the return of the J during the entire cutting operation, thereby overcoming any tendency for jaw spreading between the linear and sickle shaped cutters. A front cutting insert in the transverse member and a return cutting insert in the return leg, interact with a tip of the upper jaw to pierce, and then cut, a plate which is longer than the throat of the shearing machine, thereby enabling shearing of large plates. The initial piercing takes place simultaneously at the tip of the upper jaw and at an upward-directed point on the front cutting insert. This two-point contact stabilizes the plate during the initial stages of cutting. A pick-up tooth along the front of the lower jaw enhances the ability to engage a cylindrical object, and move it into position between the linear and sickle shaped cutters. The sickle shaped urges the cylindrical object into a central position, thereby reducing the force required for cutting. Blades are segmented and symmetrical about at least one axis to permit bringing a plurality of edges into effective cutting positions.

摘要： A method and apparatus for shaping a solid antiperspirant stick composition. The antiperspirant composition is produced in a generally cylindrical form having an oval or elliptical cross-section and the method and apparatus disclosed herein form the exposed end of the stick into a domed shape. A shaping mechanism comprises three shaped and heated cutting edges, each of which is arcuately oscillated with respect to the end of the stick within the plane of the major axis of the oval or ellipse. One pre-cut cutting edge is oscillated in one direction and makes a cut partially into one side of the exposed end of the stick. Rough cut and finish cut cutting edges are then arcuately passed through the end of the stick in the opposite direction.
