    摘要: Method and apparatus for removing a tire too large for unassisted manual handling from a collapsible building drum. The drum comprises both articulated and individually removable segments and is collapsed after removal of certain segments by supporting the tire externally as by a crane sling, and moving the tire axially, axial movement of the tire being sufficient alone to cause the articulated segments to be collapsed permitting continued movement of the tire completely off the drum. The foregoing abstract is not to be taken as limiting the invention of this application, and in order to understand the full nature and extent of the technical disclosure of this applciation, reference must be made to the accompanying drawings and the following detailed description. The invention relates to building massive tires such as for earthmoving vehicles, and particularly to a method of and apparatus for removing such tires in the uncured state from a high-crowned drum on which the same are built.

    摘要: This tire-making drum intended notably for machines of the type utilized for making conventional or radial-ply heavy truck tires comprises on either side an assembly surrounding an axial spindle, each assembly comprising an annular sleeve rigid with the spindle and formed with end radial extensions forming with said sleeve and an annular cam member slidable mounted on said sleeve a variable-capacity chamber connected to a source of fluid under pressure. One extension of said sleeve it strapshaped and has pivoted thereon a double-crank lever carrying on its first elbow a roller engaging a tapered outer face of said annular cam member, all the outermost rectilinear segments of the two opposite sets of levers are covered by a resilient membrane reinforced by inner blades and transverse members. Spring means urge the annular members symmetrically towards each other and towards the median plant of the drum. When these annular cam members are in their innermost position, i.e. close to said median plane, said chambers have zero capacity and the membrane has its maximum diameter; introducing pressure fluid into these chambers will move the annular cam members to their outermost position in which the membrane has its smallest diameter. The members reinforcing said resilient membrane are adapted to engage corresponding grooves formed in the outer surfaces of said outermost rectilinear segments of the double- crank levers.

    摘要: A rotatable and axially movable carcass ply support associated with a pneumatic tire building machine or a collapsible rotating tire building drum. The support comprises a ferrule affixed to a ferrule-holder ring wich is able to rotate and slide axially with respect to the ends of the building drum by means of a plurality of roller bearings disposed within the ring. The ferrule-holder ring includes a drive element which cooperates with a servo means to allow axial movement of the ring and the ferrule with respect to the ends of the building drum. Cooperating with the ferrule and ferrule-holder ring is a bead-setting ring and a plurality of carcass ply foldover fingers. The ferrule supports the marginal edges of the carcass ply which may be wider than the building drum. The ferrule is able to rotate with the drum thereby preventing the distortion or twisting of the marginal edges.

No. 28,281, filed Apr. 22, 1970, entitled "Tire Building Machine," the bead clamping means consist for each flange supporting same of an annular set of pivoted arms each formed with an outer bent radially away from the drum axis, this end carrying a pivoted finger formed with a forked outer end and radially urged away from the drum axis by a spring reacting against said arm, and a link connecting said arm to the moveable end of a double-acting cylinder mounted in said flange at a point nearer to the drum axis than the fulcrum of said arm, the movement of the operative end of said cylinder towards the transverse plane of symmetry of the drum causing the arm to move away from the drum axis so that the outer end of said arm, by co-acting with said pivoted finger, engages the bead of the tire carcass somewhat like a pair of tongs.

    摘要: The tire building apparatus was an axially elongated drive shaft which is rotatable about its center axis. The tire building drum of the apparatus includes an axially elongated retainer sleeve which is interchangeably received on the drive shaft and rotatable with the drive shaft about the center axis of the drive shaft. A slider sleeve is slidably received on the retainer sleeve and is rotatable with the drive shaft about the center axis of the drive shaft. A plurality of link members are provided each being pivotally connected at its one end to the slider sleeve. A plurality of arcuate drum segments are provided each being equiangularly spaced apart from one another about the center axis of the axially elongated drive shaft and pivotally connected with the other end of each of the link member. The drive sleeve has an annular end plate fixedly connected thereto and movable along the axially elongated drive shaft with respect to the tire building drum and coaxially surrounding the axially elongated drive shaft. An elongated clutch arm is provided having at its one end a hook portion protruding outwardly of the annular end plate of the drive sleeve and at the other end pivotally connected to the drive sleeve. A cylindrical member is shown having a horizontal base portion slidably received on the slider sleeve, and a flange portion extending radially outwardly with respect to the axially elongated drive shaft.
