    摘要: Mechanical pencil in which a chuck assembly for gripping a lead is formed with plural chuck elements mutually combined with each other. The chuck assembly has an internal longitudinal hole to insert a lead through and a lead gripping portion to grip the lead, while a lead guide tube is movably inserted within the lead inserting hole. The lead guide tube pushes on acting portions of the chuck to open the gripping portions of the chuck elements in the direction of parting them from each other when the lead guide tube is advanced, and the lead gripping portion opens to release the lead. The chuck is designed to enable releasing and gripping the lead securely so that it can be suitably used as a chuck mechanism for extending the lead automatically.

    摘要: A propelling or automatic writing implement having a lead which can be projected from the implement without pushing. An inner frame having a chuck assembly for permitting advance of the lead but preventing retraction of the lead and a lead protecting tube having a holder for holding the lead with a suitable frictional force are housed in a main body and slidable axially thereof. A mechanism is provided for retracting the frame and the tube by a reaction to which the lead is subjected when pressed against the writing surface with a force of considerable magnitude and for returning them when the lead is released from the force, while permitting the tube to move backward and forward relative to the frame in the course of the reciprocating movement. The lead can be projected by the relative movement of the tube and the frame.

    摘要: An automatic pencil employing axial movement of a lead piece guide and a lead piece chucking mechanism. After a length of protruding lead rod is used up, the lead piece guide is caused to retract in the same amount as the wearing away of the lead rod. By pressing the tip of the lead rod against another object, the lead rod is caused to move back with the chucking mechanism. After the rod is retracted until the tip aligns with the tip of the guide, the rod and lead piece guide will be moved back. The rod will then advance when the holder is moved away from the object while the lead piece guide will be left in the retracted position due to a large friction between the friction member and the guide means. By this operation, the rod is protruded from the guide at substantially equal length to the stroke of the retracting movement. In other words, the guide is moved back at each time when the rod moves back and forward to allow the rod to protrude by a constant length which is irrespective to that which has previously protruded.

    摘要: A lead chuck of a mechanical pencil to be assembled into a lead feeding mechanism of a rear end knock type, an automatic lead feeding type and an extremity end knock type mechanical pencil in which it is arranged within the sleeve through a resilient member in such a way as it may be advanced or retracted. A lead holding part is formed at the extremity end portions of the divided surfaces of the chuck members which are fully divided into two sections along an axial plane. The lead holding part is formed with several teeth for use in holding the lead under four-point or six-point contacted condition within axially formed grooves made at the central portions of the divided surfaces. The teeth are projected in several rows and formed at the raised surfaces of the grooves. Stepped partial circumferential projections are projected and formed at the central part of the raised parts of the front portions of the semi-circumferential flange which are projected and formed at the outer circumference at the rear ends of the chuck members. Other stepped projections are formed at both end portions of the raised rear surfaces of the opposite sides of the flange, thereby the extremity end of the lead supplying cylinder extremity end receiving element is abutted against the rear raised surface of the flange part from the rear end side of the lead chuck. Forces applied from both directions, when the front raised surface of the flange part receive the rear end of the resilient member installed between it and the sleeve, are utilized and each of the chuck members generates a flexing phenomenon and the chuck members may then perform an instantaneous expanding operation under this flexing force.

    摘要: A mechanical pencil, especially for thin leads, in which a tubular guide projects from and is guided for movement in axial direction in one end of a tubular casing. Lead is automatically advanced through the casing as a function of pressure exerted on the tubular guide during writing or drawing by successively compressing and expanding a tubular, resilient element having a conically-shaped end. During writing or drawing, the resilient element is compressed and its conically shaped end is wedged in tight engagement into a cooperating conically shaped end of an abutment member so as to clamp lead passing through the casing, thereby preventing the lead from moving inwardly during writing. When pressure is terminated, the resilient element is restored to its expanded condition, thereby freeing the lead to advance.
