    摘要: A ground engaging segment providing a running surface for wheels, endless tracks and the like, which is not pneumatic in nature, thereby not susceptible to puncture, and which is resiliently flexible to offer some resistance to shock. The ground engaging segment comprises a base and a number of removable, hollow, tubular ground engaging elements which extend transversely of the direction of travel of the running surface. Said ground engaging elements include an inner face for engagement to the base and an outer face for contact with the ground surface, and angular shaped side faces between the inner and outer faces allowing for resilient flexibility under normal load conditions. It is preferable that the ground engaging elements are open at their ends to allow for dissipation of heat and are arranged in circumferential rows, defining a chevron pattern, to prevent resultant side thrust imposed upon the running surface. In addition, the ground engaging elements are constructed angularly to provide a line about which the side faces can flex, and include a flexible internal reinforcement, built in to the walls of the faces of the ground engaging element to provide reinforcement for the ground engaging element, while maintaining flexibility.

The tire mounted on this rim has an inner portion wholely received between the flanges and an outwardly portion lying wholely outwardly of the flanges. The inner portion is provided with such bores in angularly equi-spaced relationship and wholely within the circumference of the flanges so as to be closed therebetween. The outer portion is flush with the outer surfaces of the flanges.

    摘要: A device for cooling the wheels of motor vehicles which are equipped with disc brakes mounted on the wheels between the wheel centers and a cover plate. The rotors of the disc brakes are fastened to the wheel flange of the wheel hub by a pot-shaped part which delimits radially an annular space opening in the direction of the cover plate. The cover plate is provided with openings through which a cooling air stream can enter the wheel space containing the brake. The wheel center is provided with openings near a rim portion thereof through which air can escape from the outer annular space left between the brake and wheel center. The annular space communicates through a space between the rim and the brake with an annular space delimited by the remaining space and the cover plate in the axial direction. A jacket of the pot-shaped mounting part, by which an inner hub side annular space is delimited in the radial direction from the outer annular space, is provided with overflow openings disposed around a circumference of the jacket.

    摘要: Resilient wheel for railroad bogie running at high speed, comprising, a rim having a hub adapted to be rotated around the extremity of a shaft capable of being resiliently displaced only in a longitudinal direction, the other extremity of the shaft carrying an opposite wheel. The rim is provided with a tire surrounded by a metallic strip provided with a flange necessary for rolling on a rail. A disc is adapted to slide perpendicularly to the shaft between two plates connected to the rim. Resilient means are adapted to be compressed during the longitudinal displacement of the shaft. The resilient means are so conceived as to provide a non-linear law of the deformation strain as a function of the longitudinal displacement of the shaft.

    摘要: A resilient vehicle wheel, particularly for off-the-road vehicles, comprises a generally cylindrical tread wall of resilient material having circumferentially-spaced corrugations, an inner hub section, and a pair of inwardly-dished end walls of resilient material joining respective ends of the tread wall with the hub section. The end walls have angularly-spaced corrugations joining the corrugations of the tread wall and extending inwardly toward the hub section. Preferably the ridges of the end wall corrugations join the valleys of the tread wall corrugations, and vice versa, and the end wall valleys extend to a radius equal to, and advantageously greater than, the radius of the innermost portions of the tread wall valleys at respective ends of the wheel. The valleys of the end wall corrugations advantageously have respective series of alternate deeper and shallower portions spaced therealong, e.g., depressions. The resilient end walls and tread wall provide at least a major portion of the support for a load, and desirably the interior of the wheel is at atmospheric pressure.
