摘要： An access platform system for an earth-moving machine, such as a grader including a frame, plural ground-engaging drive members, an earth working tool and an operator station, which access platform system includes a first deck structure including deck members adapted to move between an upright storage position and a flat deployed position, stairs for providing access for personnel from ground level to the first deck structure and associated safety barriers. The first deck structure extends, in the deployed position, from the stairs to the operator station and the first deck structure allows, in the storage position, a substantially unobstructed view of at least a front portion of either a ground engaging drive member or the earth working tool from the operator station. The access platform system also includes a second deck structure interposed between the stairs and the first deck structure. The first deck structure includes a deck member adapted to extend along said frame adjacent to an engine compartment and substantially over at least one ground engaging drive member. The second deck structure may be mounted on a suspension beam of the machine such that it moves in cooperation with ground engaging drive members.

摘要： An automotive vehicle comprises a frame having a pair of side rails interconnected by a plurality of cross members. A rocker panel substantially parallel to and spaced from each side rail creates a gap. An energy transfer member seats within the gap for transferring energy between the rocker panel and the side rail in a side impact event. The energy transfer member is sufficiently stronger than the side rail such that impact energy deforms the rocker panel and travels through the energy transfer member to deform the side rail prior to any deformation of the energy transfer member, thereby maintaining the gap to reduce side structure intrusion into an occupant compartment. An accelerometer mounted within the vehicle inboard of the side rails senses vehicle frame acceleration, and activates a vehicle airbag system as necessary.

摘要： A stairway for a motor coach is located in one side wall of the motor coach immediately adjacent the front wall and in front of the front wheel well. The stairway cooperates with a hinged door mounted at the front wall and openable to an angle less than 90.degree. from the coach side. The stairway is defined by a plurality of steps of equal riser height together with two vertical side walls each on a respective side of the stairway. The walls are smoothly curved around a center of curvature rearwardly of the stairway and to one side of the coach so that the stairway smoothly curves from a front edge at the doorway to a ramp section of the aisle commencing at a line at right angles to the side of the coach. The front edge of each step is at an angle to the front edge of the next step so that the steps provide gradual turning from the side of the coach to the front of the aisle. The stairway commences initially into the coach in a direction slightly toward the front of the coach so as to cooperate with the door in directing the passengers along the side of the coach, into the stairway, around the stairway and onto the aisle.
