Abstract: A toy bicycle that is a scale model including frame, seat, handlebar, front and rear wheel and drive assemblies comparable to a full-sized bicycle. There is also included front and rear braking mechanisms that can be readily and easily finger operated. The bicycle includes pedal and foot pegs that are oversized relative to the other components to facilitate finger operation of the bicycle. The handlebar is provided with projections to enable one playing with it to perform stunts.

Abstract: A readily releasable parking brake for a bicycle includes a housing to be secured to the underside of the down tube of a bicycle frame, and a generally U-shaped spring wire form which has the ends of its leg portions received in a recess in the housing and turned out for pivotal mounting in a pair of aligned holes in the side walls of the housing providing for movement of the wire form through approximately 90.degree. between the back and bottom walls of the recess. Aligned grooves in the side walls of the housing adjacent their junctions with the back and bottom walls of the recess act as keepers for the legs of the wire form, and the head of the screw by which the housing is mounted on a bicycle is proportioned to spread the form legs into interfitting relation with these grooves, so that engagement and disengagement of the spring form with respect to these grooves is with a snap action. In addition, the housing is provided with counterbored through bores which serve as guides for the gear shifter cables and as retainers for the sheaths covering the upper portions of these cables.

Abstract: A bicycle brake for a bicycle having a frame with a hub in which pedal cranks are rotatably mounted comprising a disc rotatably mounted on the hub for rotation with the cranks and a brake shoe pivoted to the frame and extending upwardly along the front of the rear tire of the bicycle and having a surface for engaging the tire upon actuation of the brake. The brake includes a ball clutch arm pivoted on the shoe and extending upwardly and forwardly toward the periphery of the disc. The arm has opposed walls between which the periphery of the disc extends and the walls have inwardly facing grooves that taper transversely and longitudinally in a rearward direction. A pair of balls is positioned in each groove between the disc and the respective wall and a spring yieldingly urges the shoe away from the tire such that when the pedal cranks are pedaled rearwardly, the balls travel rearwardly along the grooves to pivot the ball clutch arm and, in turn, the brake shoe bringing the brake shoe surface into frictional contact with the surface of the rear tire.

Abstract: A braking apparatus for stopping a children's kick scooter is described. The braking apparatus comprises a hand-held remote control to transmit a command signal when a radio-frequency (RF) signal transmitter is activated. The braking apparatus also comprises a remote control signal receiver located on the children's kick scooter to receive the command signal and convert it to an electric current. The braking apparatus additionally comprises a linear actuator to receive the electric current. The linear actuator comprises a linear actuator electric motor and a linear actuator shaft. The linear actuator electric motor is activated by the electric current and moves the linear actuator shaft from a first position to a second position. The braking apparatus further comprises a brake system to press a metal plate against a rear wheel of the children's kick scooter, thereby stopping the children's kick scooter when the linear actuator shaft is in the second position.
