A still camera wherein a reciprocable actuating member turns the planet carrier of a planetary transmission whereby the ring gear of the transmission rotates the takeup reel in order to effect the transport of roll film by the length of a frame. When the transport of film by the length of a frame is completed, a control lever is automatically disengaged from a second gear which is rotatable by the sun gear of the transmission so that the second gear can rotate in response to further rotation of the planet carrier from a starting position. The camera release can be depressed only when the control lever is disengaged from the second gear and the planet carrier returns to its starting position.

A camera that reliably prevents frame shifts of film by inserting a frame shift prevention member into a film perforation is disclosed. The camera with a frame shift prevention function includes a frame shift prevention member that is supported to move toward or away from the perforation of the film. The frame shift prevention member includes a first oblique plane that makes contact with the edge of the perforation during feeding of the film in the direction of winding in preparation for shooting the next film and a second oblique plane that makes contact with the edge of the perforation during feeding of the film in the direction of reminding that are formed on the frame shift prevention member. The angle between the second oblique angle and the rewinding direction is smaller than the angle between the first oblique angle and the winding direction.

A film stop position adjusting mechanism with a stop lever (3) having a stop pawl (3a) engaged with a ratchet gear (2) and adapted to stop the feeding of a film. A ratchet releasing lever (7) holds the stop lever (3) at a release position, with the ratchet releasing lever having a bent portion (7a) and an extended portion (7b). A locking lever (11) has a step (11a) which engages the bent portion (7a) of the ratchet releasing lever to lock the ratchet releasing lever (7). A detection lever has a protrusion (15a) which is inserted into a perforation of the film to detect a film stop position, and an arm (15b) having a straight edge substantially perpendicular to a film feeding direction. The locking lever (11) is provided with an eccentric pin (10) whose position can be adjusted by rotation. The eccentric pin (10) is engaged with an arm (15b) of the detection lever adapted to detect a film stop position by inserting the protrusion (15a) into a film perforation. The film stop position is adjusted by changing the timing at which the step (11a) is disengaged from the bent portion (7a).

The present invention is a film feed mechanism having a take-up shaft spaced apart from the film take-up spool. A bell crank is connected via a link to a conventional film feed control disc coupled to the take-up shaft. The reciprocal movement of the link is applied to the bell crank. The bell crank is provided with a first pawl and a second pawl. When the bell crank is moved to the right, the first pawl is in engagement with a first gear, which via second and third gears, causes the spool gear to be rotated counter-clockwise; however, the second pawl is slidingly disengaged from a rotating fourth gear. When the bell crank is moved to the left, the second pawl is in engagement with the fourth gear, which via a fifth, second and third gears cause the spool gear to be rotated counter-clockwise; however, the first pawl is slidingly disengaged from the rotating first gear. Thus, the present invention causes the spool gear to be rotated counter-clockwise in both directions of reciprocal movement of the link, and consequently, provides a widning torque of substantially constant level to the spool gear.

An openable shutter is provided on the housing alignable with the film and a takeup wheel in the housing is connectable to the roll of film and rotatable to wind the film up and displace the frames one-by-one past the shutter. A film-advance slide is displaceable on the housing between a pulled-out position projecting from the housing and a pushed-in position fitting snugly with the housing. A transmission and a one-way coupling are provided in the housing between the slide and the take-up wheel so that the take-up wheel is rotated to wind up the film only on displacement of the slide from the pushed-in position to the pulled-out position. Furthermore, a frame-sensing mechanism in the camera arrests displacement of the slide or a portion of the slide in the direction toward the pulled-out position when a fresh frame is properly aligned with the shutter.

A still camera for use with roll film which is adjacent to a web of backing paper and has a row of perforations, one for each film frame. When the film is being transported from a supply reel to a takeup reel, a feeler engages the film and penetrates an oncoming perforation to be thereupon entrained by the film through a predetermined distance which suffices to move a pawl from a first to a second position whereby the pawl interrupts the transport of film at the exact moment when the foremost unexposed film frame is in register with the picture taking lens. The feeler can move the pawl by way of a lever which is biased by a spring and has two notches and a cam face between the two notches. The feeler has a follower which extends into the first notch while the feeler enters an oncoming perforation and which moves along the cam face to enter the second notch while the feeler is being entrained by the film. The follower causes the lever to move the pawl to the second position not later than when the follower enters the second notch. At the same time, the lever causes the feeler to pivot to a position in which the feeler extends with clearance through the adjacent perforation and bears against the backing paper.

The sun gear is held against rotation by a lever during a first stage of rotation of the planet carrier while the internal gear rotates the takeup reel. A feeler scans the moving film and penetrates into an oncoming perforation to thereby disengage the lever from the sun gear so that the latter can rotate during a second stage of rotation of the planet carrier as soon as the internal gear is arrested due to resistance of the takeup reel to rotate in a direction to collect exposed film. The lever has a tooth which engages complementary teeth of the sun gear during the first stage of rotation of the planet carrier; such teeth constitute an overload clutch which allows the sun gear to rotate against the opposition of the lever in response to rotation of the planet carrier when the latter transmits a predetermined force while the internal gear is also held against rotation. This prevents a tearing of the film and/or damage to component parts of the camera.
