摘要： A circuit board includes a power switch operable so as to generate a trigger signal upon actuation, a card slot adapted for connecting with a video card, and a controller coupled electrically to the power switch and the card slot. The controller detects connection of the video card to the card slot and further detects operating voltage of the video card. The controller inhibits the power switch from generating the trigger signal upon detection that the operating voltage of the video card that is connected to the card slot is higher than a predetermined voltage.

摘要： An apparatus and method for reducing and balancing the off-state capacitance of an overvoltage protection circuit utilizes one or more diode networks electrically connected in series with an overvoltage protection device. The overvoltage protection device is selected from the group consisting of a gas tube, an MOV, a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode and a TVS thyristor. Preferably, the overvoltage protection device is a solid-state overvoltage protector (SSOVP) having at least one thyristor. The diode network includes a plurality of diodes electrically connected in parallel and arranged with opposing polarities so that the circuit is bi-directional. Preferably, the diode network includes a first set of two or more stacked diodes electrically connected in parallel with a second set of two or more stacked diodes and arranged with opposing polarities, and the capacitance of the diode network is less than the capacitance of the thyristor.

The module is characterized in that action of withdrawing the circuit breaker module also withdraws the monitoring circuitry. Sensors in the monitoring circuitry may include sensors for monitoring one or more of breaker presence, on/off state of the breaker, and voltage provided to the breaker.

摘要： An overvoltage protector bridge circuit for protecting telecommunications equipment against voltage surges on transmission lines utilizes an overvoltage protection device in a bridge circuit having multiple diodes arranged in series or in parallel on each leg of the circuit. The overvoltage protection device conducts when it reaches a threshold voltage potential. The overvoltage protection device is electrically connected between a pair of connection nodes in the bridge circuit. The bridge circuit is made up of multiple diodes arranged along each of the legs of the circuit, which extend between the tip line and the ring line and the connection nodes. At least two diodes are arranged in series or in parallel along each leg of the bridge circuit to steer the excess voltage on the tip line or the ring line, or both, through the overvoltage protection device to ground. The use of multiple diodes on each leg of the bridge circuit reduces the effective off-state capacitance of the overvoltage protection device, thereby permitting the bridge circuit to be utilized for high frequency transmission line applications, and increases the overall surge current handling capability of the bridge circuit.

摘要： There is provided a cable which retards lightning. The cable includes at least one internal conductor which may be a power conductor or a signal conductor. A choke conductor is wound about the internal conductor in the shape of a spiral. If lightning strikes near the cable or a device which is attached to the cable, such as an antenna, the choke conductor presents a high impedance to the current caused by lightning and will prevent the lightning current from flowing down the choke conductor, thus entering the internal conductor, thereby preventing damage to the internal conductor and any associated electronic equipment. Preferably, a shield is also wound about the internal conductor adjacent to the choke conductor in a direction opposite to the choke conductor, whereby the angle formed by the crossing of the choke conductor and the shield is approximately 90° to block the magnetic field component of the lightning discharge. The choke conductor and the shield may be wound about a conduit which houses the cable.
