Abstract:
Method for an automatic identification of urban dense areas from cell phones records, by using a computing device that receives as inputs: a geographical region R, a time period Δt for which dense areas in the region R need to be computed, a set of BTSs in the region R, a set of CDRs generated by individuals during the time period Δt using the set of BTSs of the region R, a coverage C and a granularity ε. The method includes constructing a graph G=(V, E), being V=vertexes and E=edges, using Delaunay triangulation, where each vertex vi of V corresponds to btsi of BTS in the geographical region R, and each edge ei,j of E represents connection between btsi and btsj; eliminating from E all the edges in E with a distance between two connecting BTS larger than c, so that a desired spatial granularity is ensured; associating a weight wi,j to each edge ei,j of E that has not been eliminated, the weight representing the average density of the area covered by btsi and btsj during the time period Δt; constructing a data structure L that contains the dense areas using the edges of E; and applying a “Maximum Spanning Tree” type algorithm to detect dense areas given by the data structure L.
Abstract:
The method comprises using the reference models followed by TC 57 group of the IEC for carrying out communications between a central computing host and a plurality of computing devices, and also comprises providing a SIP mechanism inside a TC57 Architecture Model for carrying out said communications between said central computing host and said plurality of computing devices, through the establishment of SIP sessions and the subsequent dispatch of messages. The system is arranged and intended for implementing the method.
Abstract:
It comprises switching on or switching off at least part of said radio access node, such as a femtonode functionality radio section and/or other radio sections, as a function of, respectively, the reception by said radio access node, of a radio signal transmitted by a wireless portable processing device, or the absence of such a reception, where said radio signal is a low-power radio signal transmitted by a low-power radio interface of said wireless portable processing device.
Abstract:
Method and single radio station for managing station throughputs from a wireless multiple access points backhaul. The method comprises using a single radio interface per station to connect stations to one or more access points (AP1, AP2, AP3), and scheduling the throughput there for by determining a throughput request Tik for any station (k) to an access point (APi), based on a previously received or requested throughput {circumflex over (T)}ik , and calculating a corresponding duty cycle fik during which said station (k) needs to connect to said access point (APi) to receive said requested throughput Tik. The single radio station is arranged for performing the scheduling and parameter estimation of the method and communicating means for connecting any station (k) to an access point (APi) according to the obtained scheduling.
Abstract:
A method for generating a model of a flat object from views taken by at least two calibrated cameras, which is capable of generating two-dimensional and volumetric representations of the object, where the representations can be a depth map, a volumetric representation or a mesh representation, method including the following basic steps: calibrating at least two cameras, calculating several 3D coordinates of at least three points belonging to the same plane of the flat object, calculating the equation of the plane of the flat object, selecting at least one region representing the surface of the flat object, in at least one view provided by at least one camera, and calculating the intersection between the selected region representing the surface of the object and the equation of the plane.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a system made up of at least 2 modules, shown in FIG. 3. The first module is located in the operating system layer of the mobile device (SMNS service module), and the other module is rolled out in a server belonging to the architecture of the mobile network operator (SMNS platform module). The main purpose of the invention is to generate a standard service shared by all the mobile devices. Integrating the SMNS service module reduces the standardization problems that manufacturers of this technology have encountered thus far. The fact that the same module with the same API is implemented in any operating system will make it much easier for social clients to migrate from one terminal to another. This standardization also affects the communication of social clients using the SMNS service since social clients (SC) can now exchange information even if they have been developed by different mobile software companies.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for performing automatic backups of a user's data contained in the local drives of at lest one computer of a local area network by means of a Residential Gateway, which is in turn connected to a provider's Backup Server. A backup method is thus provided, which enables creating a backup in an automatic way without the need of providing UPnP support
Abstract:
The invention refers to a method for encouraging a user to comply with his/her medication regimen, comprising the steps of: registering a group of parameters related to a medication intake of said user, which parameters include a time parameter and a user identifier; sending said group of parameters related to a medication intake of the user to a server (40); computing a time difference between said time parameter received and a time parameter associated to said user identifier previously recorded in the server; assigning said user with a pre-established number of points depending on the value of said time difference; and providing said user with information regarding his/her points obtained for the medication intake, including a summary of their medication compliance status using appealing personal awareness. providing symbolic rewards (e.g., listening to a favorite song, being surprised with a family photo, reading a joke) to said user if he/she complies with his/her medication regimen providing means to said user to contact/remind other users in case they forget to take their medication.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to methods for characterizing communication networks, and more particularly to methods of characterizing the propagation of information throughout communications in such networks.

“A method of optimizing the design of a Tracker in P2P applications to support DVD features, the method including determining for each peer and video operation the time T and jump point Pj, generating a hash key HKj for each peer, the hash key having a value Kj=(Pj−T)/C, where C>=1 is the granularity of the system, and grouping the peers with the same hash, where the system is designed to provide good viewer experience while supporting DVD features like pause, forward and backward jump operations.”
