Abstract:
A method and apparatus for routing Application Programming Interface (API) calls from a partner entity to a telephony service provider (TSP) network are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for routing API calls may include receiving a first message including an API call and a partner API key used to authenticate the partner entity on the TSP network to access a partner API layer disposed on the TSP network, extracting the partner API key from the first message, performing an authentication process to authenticate an identity of the partner entity using at least the extracted partner API key, and routing the first message based on results of the authentication process. In some embodiments, the first message is routed to the partner API layer disposed on the TSP network when the identity of the partner entity is authenticated.
Abstract:
A system and method for dynamically changing contact information is presented. The system and method includes receiving a contact information change associated with a contact in a first contact list, determining that the contact is also in a second contact list and modifying the second contact list based on the contact information change.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for determining intent of an end-user in a communication session are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method determining intent of an end-user in a communication session through voice analysis may include establishing a voice communication session between a first user device and a second user device, performing a voice analysis process to determine whether the end-user intended to establish the voice communication session, and determining whether to permit voice communications over the established voice communication session based on the voice analysis process performed, wherein all voice communications from the first user device is prevented from being transmitted over the established voice communication session at least until the voice analysis process has completed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for user location registration comprising determining, by a first network service provided by a first network, subscriber location information associated with a first user communication device registered with the first network, wherein the subscriber location information includes a network identifier of the first device, and wherein the network identifier is not obtained via session initiation protocol (SIP) messaging received from the first device; receiving, by the first network service, a broadcast location request for the subscriber location information in response to a call initiated from a second user communication device wherein receiving the broadcast location request further includes determining subscriber identity information from the broadcast location request, and determining that the subscriber identity information is associated with the subscriber location information; and sending, by the first network service, the determined subscriber location information in response to the broadcast location request.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for verifying authenticity of device information of an end-user device are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for verifying authenticity of device information of an end-user device may include sending a request to verify device information of an end-user device receiving, responsive to the request, verification information regarding the device information sent, and performing a verification analysis on the verification information received.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for establishing an IP telephone call to a called party's telephony device include attempting to send a call setup request directly to the called party's telephony device, and requesting that a push notification be sent to the called party's telephony device. If the direct request does not reach the called party's telephony device, the push notification will result in the called party's telephony device contacting the IP telephony system to setup the requested call. In some embodiments, the request for a push notification is not sent until the direct request is determined to have failed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for terminating telephony communications to a mobile telephony device that is roaming outside of its native service area make use of a forwarding termination service. The forwarding termination service causes the native mobile telephony service provider that provides service to the mobile telephony device to forward incoming telephony communications directed the native telephone number of the mobile telephony device to a forwarding access number. The forwarding termination service receives telephony communications directed to the forwarding access number, and then terminates the telephony communication to the mobile telephony device via any one of multiple different methods. The mobile telephony service provider can be instructed to implement and cancel call forwarding instructions by dialing a special character string on the mobile telephony device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for identifying and blocking undesired automated calls include checking to determine if more than a predetermined number of calls are received from the same originating telephone number within a certain period of time. If so, information about the calls from the same originating telephone number is analyzed to determine if the calls conform to one or more patterns that indicate the calls are likely undesired automated calls. If so, further calls from the originating telephone number may be blocked.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and system for discovering devices on a local area network. The method comprises sending a DNS request from a host networking element, receiving the DNS request at one or more devices, and responding to the host networking element with one or more DNS responses. The DNS request comprises one or more particular domain names. The one or more DNS responses comprise local network address information for the one or more VoIP devices. The apparatus comprises means for filtering a set of network traffic for a DNS request, means for responding to a DNS request with a local network address, and means for forwarding the DNS request to another device. The system comprises a computer for generating a DNS request for a particular domain, and one or more VoIP devices for receiving the DNS request and sending a DNS response to the computer with a local network address for the VoIP device.
Abstract:
An IP telephony system allows a user to register a telephony device that receives its native telephony service from a different telephony service provider as an extension telephone. The user can then place calls through the IP telephony system using the extension telephone. Such calls may or may not be established using the extension telephone's native telephony service provider.
