Abstract:
A quilting machine (10, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600) is provided with a printing station (20, 125, 225, 325, 425, 525, 611, 626, 631) and a quilting station (44, 127, 227, 327, 427, 527, 627, 632). The printing station is located either in line and preferably upstream of the quilting station, with a conveyor (520) extending through each of the stations to convey a web of quilting material through the machine, or is off of the quilting line such that the material with a pre-applied pattern thereon is transferred, preferably in web form, to the line of the second station for the application of a pattern in registration with the first applied pattern. At the quilting station, registration longitudinal and transverse registration is measured and skewing or rotation of the material is determined. Opposite transverse sides of the material are differently adjusted to orient and register the material. A master batch controller (90, 135, 235, 335, 435, 535) assures that the proper combinations of printed and quilted patterns are combined to allow small quantities of different quilted products to be produced automatically along a material web. Ticking is preprinted with a plurality of different patterns, organized and communicated by the computer so that a print head can scan the material and print different patterns of different panels (32) across the width of a web. Identifying data (40) for matching the panels of a mattress product can be provided in data files printed on the fabric. Cutting and slitting of the panels from each other and the quilting and combining of the panels for assembly of a mattress product can be carried out manually or automatically using the data.
Abstract:
A nestably stackable assembly for use in a bedding foundation. The assembly has a rectangular border wire with parallel sides and ends. Transversely spaced, parallel and longitudinally extending support wires are connected at their ends to the border wire ends. The support wires are formed so as to be generally corrugated along their lengths with peaks and valleys. The peaks are flattened at their tops, and the flattened tops are generally coplanar with a plane defined by the border wire. The valleys are vertically displaced beneath and intermediate of the flattened tops. Longitudinally spaced and transversely extending, upper connector wires are connected to the sides of border wires, and the upper connector wires are connected along their lengths to the flattened tops of the peaks of the support wires. The valleys have flattened bottoms, and adjacent pairs of the flattened bottoms of the valley are interconnected by resilient connectors.

A reclining mechanism for a furniture item includes support structure adapted for attachment to the furniture item, a footrest support bar connected for longitudinal movement with respect to the support structure between extended and retracted positions and actuating structure connected with the footrest support bar. The footrest support bar includes an S-shaped section and is connected to a footrest member for supporting the legs of the seat occupant. The actuating structure moves the footrest support bar along the S-shaped section between the extended and retracted positions.
Abstract:
A mattress or bedding product is covered with a topper comprising individual tubes, each of which is filled with shredded foam/fiber material. In one embodiment, the topper has a foam layer having a number of arcuate-shaped cradles in which are placed the individual tubes. The shredded foam/fiber materials may be modified as required to provide different density and/or firmness characteristics to different portions of the product.
Abstract:
A shelf assembly for organizing and merchandising a plurality of products. The shelf assembly comprises a shelf having a bottom, plurality of dividers extending from front to back, a pair of dividers and the bottom forming a track in which a column of products are arranged. A front member pivotal about a stop, or pivotally engaged with the dividers, prevents the forwardmost product within the column from falling off the front of the shelf. The pivotal front members enable product to be pulled forwardly off the shelf, minimizing the spacing necessary between adjacent shelves.

A pneumatic product vending and delivery system is provided which preferably uses an existing product vending machine as a storage and loading device for use in a pneumatic vending and delivery system along with an interface unit in place of the vending machine door. A product dispensing terminal is provided that is connected by the delivery tube of a pneumatic conveyor from the storage and loading device, which has a loading mechanism configured to load a product dispensed by the dispensing mechanism into the delivery tube. The pneumatic conveyor includes a back pressure source operable to apply reverse pressure to a product in the delivery tube to gently slow a product approaching the product dispensing terminal through the tube. A gate is selectively moveable into and out of the path of a product proximate the outlet end of the delivery tube to stop a product slowed by the back pressure source and to release the stopped product for delivery to a customer at the product dispensing terminal. A pressure control valve is connected to the output end of the delivery tube to control the release of air from the delivery tube ahead of the product to gradually decelerate the product approaching the dispensing terminal. The loading mechanism includes a moveable member connected at one end to a blower and having an open end configured to receive a product dispensed by the dispensing mechanism and to seal the inlet end of the delivery tube with the received product positioned between the blower and the tube. The moveable member is preferably a bucket shaped element pivotally mounted to move between an open position for receiving a product dispensed by the dispensing mechanism and a closed position sealing the inlet to the deliver tube.

A display rack including shelf assemblies which are movable between a retracted position and an extended position. Each shelf assembly includes a pair of slides adapted to slidably receive a pair of support arms extending forwardly from vertical uprights of the display rack. Each slide has a cavity therein in which one of the support arms is slidably received. The shelf may be locked in either an extended position or a retracted position.

An apparatus for stitching fabric to produce a quilted fabric having a needle plate for supporting the fabric, a presser plate located at a first position above the needle plate and a needle located above the presser plate. A needle rocker shaft is mechanically connected to the needle and imparts a reciprocating motion to the needle in response to the angular displacements of the needle rocker shaft. Further, a presser plate rocker shaft is mechanically connected to the needle rocker shaft and imparts a reciprocating motion to the presser plate in response to the angular displacements of the presser plate rocker shaft. The presser plate rocker has an output shaft movable to a different relative angular positions with respect to an input shaft in order to locate the presser plate at a second position with respect to the needle plate. The first and second positions of the presser plate provide respective first and second gaps with respect to the needle plate and permit fabrics of different thicknesses to be quilted.
Abstract:
A resilient structure such as a seat cushion, mattress, furniture back or the like has enhanced resiliency and support at strategic locations due to the use of coil springs interlocked and held within a densified heat bonded low melt fiber batt used as the core or cover of the resilient structure. The densified fiber batt core includes low melt fibers which, when heated to the melting point and then cooled, intersect and interlock with the coil springs. The coil springs function as an integral part of the fiber batt, eliminating the need for lattice wires and the like to interlock the springs in the structure. The invention also increases the capability of manufacturing resilient structures in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
