Abstract: Methods and systems for managing an interruption of content presentation on a computing device are provided. In one example, an interruption of presentation of a segment of content on a computing device is detected. An estimated recovery time is determined for the interruption. Based at least in part on the estimated recovery time, a determination is made as to whether to skip the segment or wait to resume presentation of the video segment after the interruption subsides. Based on a result of the determining whether to skip or wait, an instruction to wait or an instruction to skip the segment is generated for presentation via the computing device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enabling verbal interaction with an NLUI application without relying on express wake terms. The NLUI application receives an audio input comprising a plurality of terms. In response to determining that none of the terms is an express wake term pre-programmed into the NLUI application, the NLUI application determines a topic for the plurality of terms. The NLUI application then determines whether the topic is within a plurality of topics for which a response should be generated. If the determined topic of the audio input is within the plurality of topics, the NLUI application generates a response to the audio input.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for minimizing obstruction of a media asset by an overlay by predicting a path of movement of an object of interest of the media asset and avoiding placement of the overlay in the path of movement. To this end, a media guidance application may detect an object of interest in a first frame of a media asset, and may determine a determining a first location of the object in the first frame and a second location of the object of interest in a second frame. Abstract: The system and methods described herein determine whether to override commands to modify content presentation in a multi-user content consumption environment. A media guidance application detects a first and second user consuming content. Upon receiving a command from the first user to modify the presentation of the content, the media guidance application retrieves a user profile of the second user and compares attributes in the user profile to metadata for the segment of the content. Based on the comparison, the media guidance application determines whether to override the command, for example based on a predicted interest level or importance level determined by the comparison. In response to determining to override the command, the media guidance application refrains from executing the command by canceling or delaying the command and generates a notification message to the user with a reason why the command was overridden.
