Abstract: An easily attachable/detachable decorative trim for architectural structures. The decorative trim includes a border having a decorative front side, and a back side including an easily releasable, e.g. hook or loop, fastener. The border has at least one fastener that is substantially continuous along its length. The border is constructed of a supple material, such as cloth or fabric, capable of conforming to irregularities in wall surfaces and bending around and/or otherwise conforming to inside and outside corners. A decorative trim kit includes at least one trim member and complementary easily releasable fastener(s) adapted for attaching to a wall, etc. The trim members of the trim kit may be visually distinct to permit interchangeable attaching of trim members to fixedly attached wall-mountable fasteners, thereby providing an associated change of decorative appearance. A method of decorating an architectural structure using such decorative trim is also provided.

Abstract: A mass marketable decorative window treatment system employs adjustable-width and adjustable-length valance pieces that can be hung from a conventional curtain rod on which a rod sleeve has been mounted. Hook and loop fastener means are employed on both the valance pieces and on a curtain rod subassembly so that the decorative window treatment components need not be permanently secured to a board as required with similar custom window treatments The width and length of individual valance pieces, such as swags and balloons, can be adjusted so that the standard size components can be used for different size windows. Individual window treatment components can be mounted side by side or in overlapping relationship. A protective flap is provided so that exposed hook fasteners will not damage the fabric during cleaning.

Abstract: In a spring-loaded curtain mount, the mount includes a pole interface at a proximal end, a compressive mechanism, and a head at a distal end. The pole interface is adapted to receive the end of a standard length adjustable pole or a painter's pole. The compression mechanism is disposed between the proximal end of the mount and the head. The mount includes a coupling device adapted to receive a portion of a curtain. During installation, the curtain mount is coupled to the end of an extension pole and the length of the pole is adjusted such that the combined length of the pole and mount is slightly longer than the distance between the floor and ceiling. At ground level, a portion of the curtain is attached to the head of the curtain mount. The curtain and mount are raised to the ceiling and the mount and pole are compressed between the floor and the ceiling. This compressive force operates to urge the head toward the ceiling, securing the mount in place.

Abstract: A valance includes central and end members formed from a single piece of extruded stock, with the central member having mitered corners at each end, and with each end member having a mitered end and a square end. The extruded stock has an inner surface including upper and lower attachment slots and an outer surface including upper and lower trim strip receiving slots. An nullLnull-shaped corner bracket connects each end member with the central member, extending within the upper and lower attachment slots. A decorative trim strip having heat-formed corners extends within the trim strip receiving slots of the end members and the central member. After the extruded stock is cut to a predetermined length, end sections are cut using a saw, with each end of the stock placed against a first stop within a mitering fixture. Next, the each end of the remaining portion of the stock is placed against a second stop within the fixture, and scrap portions are cut away to provide end surfaces inclined at appropriate angles.

Abstract: A curtain rod assembly includes a curtain rod and a plurality of inserts coupled to the curtain rod. Distributed about the polygonal cross-section of the curtain rod are surfaces disposed substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis and non-coplanar with respect to each other. The inserts are coupled to these surfaces such that the inserts' respective external faces, having a first portion of a hook and loop fastener thereon, are disposed for attachment thereto from different directions. Abstract: A telescoping curtain rod and associated draperies that have attachment surfaces such as two-piece hook-and-loop fasteners commonly referred to as a VELCRO fasteners. The curtain rod includes an outer frame, an inner frame slidably mounted within the outer frame, and first and second brackets for attaching the curtain rod to a vertical support surface such as a wall. The outer and inner frames may each include front and top sides carrying attachment surfaces.
